After watching Anime for a gratuitously long time, I've noticed a few
injokes that have American origans.

The first and formost is in "Blue Seed", a current running OAV horror
series from the creator of "3x3 Eyes". In the second Volume, Momiji, has a
thought of the TAC organization possibly sacraficing her to the Aragami
(demons) using a gillatine. This is done in an SD cartoon.

After the two episodes on the tape, you have an "Omake Theater" a group of
jokes done about the characters in Blue Seed. In this volume's Omake
Theater, there is a breif joke where they replay that scene where two SD
agents chop off Momiji's head. Only in the Omake Theater, her head sprouts
legs and walks away.
This is obviously an injoke to the John Carpenter film "The Thing" a horror
movie of gore and suspision, in which, an alien infects and possesses
members of an arctic research team and turns them into mutating aliens
cleverly disguised as themselves. In a memorable scene, one of the
infecties' head is chopped off and sprouts legs and walks away.

The second is more subtle, in Ranma 1/2 OAV "Stormy Weather comes to
School. Growing up with Miss Hinako" a flashback sees Hopposai touching
Chibi Hinako finger to finger, ala "E.T.".

Thank you.
