Or would the child/children become kittens?
Actually, in the case of morphing to an animal, that's what *I* would do,
perhaps making the children cursed too (making somebody's children real
animal would be a really, really *EVIL* thing, and definitely not appearing
in a story *I'd* write - seriously, how sad wouldn't *you* be if it turned
out *your* child was an ordinary kitten?)
That would create some inconsistency in the cases of morph to boy/whatever
where that isn't possible, but hey, it's *magic*, it's not supposed to make
100% sense, and the original series *is* a comedy.
Hmmm, given my children and my cats - I'm thinking, I'm thinking. ^_^
Logically, though, there are only a limited number of choices possible.
The usual choice is for the curse to be inoperative on a pregnant female,
this is the choice most often opted for. Just to investigate the
alternatives, though, suppose the fetus was kitten while Shampoo was cat
and human while Shampoo was human. This puts the pressure on Shampoo to
be human at delivery. Your choice as to whether the ability to morph
between human and feline is passed on to the child and under what
circumstances.
Interestingly enough, this problem has been considered in
folklore for centuries (at least). In Scotland, humans and especially
sea dwellers have married and produced children for a long time. ("I am
a man upon the land, a Silkie by the sea"). Various triggers, love and
unquestioning acceptance being one. The sea wife who retains her human
form until her human husband questions her origin, etc.
Other societies have legends of shapeshifters, but
werewolfs/bears/etc tend to emphasize killing rather than love. I'd look
to Scottish legends for insights on shapeshifting and Shampoo. ^_^
