Okay now. It's been a week, so I'd better put up the answers now, hadn't I.
As of today, I am no longer on the FFML, nor can I be reached at
NC005390@newcol.demon.co.uk. Since I'm on that temp list, I'd like to ask
those who use it to take that address off it. Hang on. Check that. Just
*change* the address to taf@isla-mia.demon.co.uk. I don't mind being on the
templist, simply because the traffic load on it isn't very high at all.

Anyway, back to the challenge I set. Response was poor (only one person
replied), but maybe you were doing these things in your head. No matter.
I promised answers, and I give answers.

Well, these things were tough. I would be surprised if you didn't get one or
two of them, but there were some real doozers here.

Right, from the top:

"Try digging it out with a fork. That always works for me."
Sam 'n' Max Hit The Road. Max says this to Sam after Sam complains about
having something in his eye.

   "Ozzie's in a pickle!"
Chrono Trigger. Midway through Ozzie's Tower (who is a minor boss of the
game), one of his many traps fails, and as Team Chrono close in, the game
announces that "Ozzie's in a pickle!", just before he runs off. This happens
several times in Ozzie's Tower, and happens to be one of my favourite parts
of the game ^_^

"Then step back. Cos it go BOOM!"
Trinity. The magpie in the text adventure game Trinity spouts this as one of
several lines of an ancient recipe. This one, of course, is the last one,
and especially useful, as if you complete the recipe and then hang around to
see what happens, you don't survive very long ^_^

"This from a man who's had less sex than a lettuce."
Red Dwarf. Lister says this to Rimmer after Rimmer takes a shot about
Kochanski being too good for him, and that a girl named Tiffany would be more
his style. Note that this is from Series VII, so it's quite possible that
those not in the UK would have missed this so far.

   "And now I'm into this?!"
The Pratchett Portfolio (as one possible answer). It's given as a subsequent
typical quote from Rincewind, meant to follow his typical quote: "I'm outta
here!"

"Once something actually happens in something as wildly complicated as the
Universe, Kevin knows where it will all end up - where `Kevin' is any
random entity that doesn't know nothin' about nothin'."
Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. Actually, it's from Mostly Harmless, the
fifth book in the trilogy, and Mr Adams says this when he's talking about
neutrinos hitting things....

"Do you call it `deceit' that I would openly wish them both?"
Ranma 1/2, Volume 1 of the translated manga. If you didn't get this one....
Kuno says this when Nabiki first confronts him with the idea of twotiming.

   "Who the #@%* is Clement?"
The hintbook for Deadline. Deadline is a text adventure game of the same
mould of Trinity, except Deadline is a whodunnit. This line is from the
hintbook, and is an answer to one of the fake questions; questions put in
there to make cheaters who just browse the possible questions to get hints
when they're not actually stuck, to think something is important, when it's
not.

"If Id can do it, so can we."
Ultima 7 Quotes list. Origin apparently say this in their quotes list, while
talking about the delays Ultima 7 suffered. The previous quote in the list
goes: "If Origin can do it, so can we." - Id (talking about the delays in
Doom) ^_^ Note, I may have the details of this one wrong, but that's the
general gist of it.

"Darn these ninjas...come on, we've got to get to the Temple! Only then
can the evil Dr. Destructo and his nefarious plans be stopped!"
Mother's Day, a Ranma 1/2 fanfic by Dave Harper. The quote's from the movie
that Nabiki fleetingly watches after Ranma has been dragged away by Akane to
do homework. I would tell you more, but what I'm gonna do instead is tell
you to get a blasted copy of the fanfic and read it! It's an excellent
fanfic, and Dave Harper is an excellent author!

Right, that's it. All 10 answers.

Ciao,
