Bzzzzt. Your teacher was wrong. Lines do *not* curve, and a line from
the north pole to the south pole would travel via the center of the
earth.
Lines are curved if the space they exist in is curved. :)
Just imagine the earth as a two dimensional, spacially curved plane, and
there you are. ^_-
