June 2, 1989
A young man, wearing his junior high school uniform, sat
alone in the middle of a vacant lot. He was drawing stick figures
in the sand and dirt with a pointed stick. They consisted mostly
of various poses of one figure kicking the other, which was
sporting a bandanna around its forehead.
"Damnitt, Ryouga, It's been three days. You think I'm
waitin' around forever, then you got another thing comin'."
He resolved to wait for the sun to set, then he would go
back to the apartment and help his father pack for their trip.
Suddenly, the old man came running around the corner,
through the vacant lot. Seeing, the youth, he skidded to a stop.
"Cover for me boy... I've got some... jealous martial
artists following me."
"Wad'ja do this time, Pops? Try to leave without payin'
again?"
Sure enough, what looked like the entire staff of a Chinese
restaurant came running around the corner.
"Just cover for me, son! I might not get home tonight, so
we may have to leave a day late."
*Stupid old man...* The youth began to draw a new set of
stick figures that featured the same two characters kicking a
much fatter, older figure "Allright, Ryouga. *Four* days, but
then I'm leaving."

10 years later.
A young blonde woman, clothed in a yellow tunic and dark,
canvas pants guffawed at her companion, a short red-haired,
pigtailed girl who was standing miserably in the rain.
"Your kidding! He did what?"
The red-head pointed at a quickly retreating panda. "Says
I'M engaged to some old sparring partner's daughter.
"Man, Ranma. Your dad's a *complete* loser."
"You wanna beat 'im up again, Ryouga?"
The blonde girl nodded, and smiled a wicked grin, full of
long, pointed canine, teeth. "Sounds like fun. Maybe after that,
we can look for jobs an' try and rent a room or sumthin'"
The red head nodded and leapt after the panda. The blonde
pulled several layers of bandannas from around her neck and
hurled them after the animal.
"Maybe we can start goin' to school again, too."
"Ahh, who wants to go to school?" The red head turned a
corner and follwed after the panda, after making sure the blonde
was still with her.
"That's where all the girls are, man! What're you
thinkin'?"
The red-head skidded to a halt. "Ooh, I bet they'll like
martial artists, too!"
