A Tenchi Muyo / She-Hulk crossover

Emerald Daze

Day : 4
-------------
By She-Hulk (brobinso@neocomm.net)

Jen groaned and tossed the covers aside. She staggered into the bathroom.
Leaning her head against the wall as she reached into the shower and turned
on the water. After blindly adjusting the controls to an almost normal
temperature, she pulled off her T-shirt and stepped into the hot spray.

A deep sigh escaped her as the water pounded over her. Gradually her mind
began to clear. She yelped as the water suddenly got colder and she reached
for the knob. Her hand closed around something round and soft and she heard
a giggle. Jen's eyes snapped open and she looked down into the smiling face
of Utsu who winked at her. With a strangled scream, Jennifer jerked her hand
away from Utsu's chest and scrambled back. She hit the shower wall and
fumbled with the door.

By the time the vortex formed, Utsu was long gone. Jennifer stood silently
in the bathroom, dripping water onto the floor as her fists clenched and
unclenched. "I knew this was a bad idea!"

	# You all right? #

"Oh, I'm just peachy!" She grabbed a towel and began to dry herself. Jen
paused and raised a brow in the author's direction. "Ahem. Might I have a
moment of privacy?" Her tone brooked no argument and the author quickly
changed the scene.

Jennifer tied the laces of her tennis shoes and stood up from the edge of
the bed which disappeared. She sat down at the table and began to pump much
needed caffeine into her system. "I don't suppose you'd give me a break
today? You know, a chance to relax?"

	# I would like to, but I don't think the twins will agree. Have a muffin. #

Jen grew thoughtful. "Doesn't Kahm return today?"

	# Yes. #

"Then she can help us catch the twins!"

	# I don't think we can trust Kahm at this point. #

	"Meaning what?"

	# Meaning that I'm not completely sure that she didn't have something to
do with their escape. #

Jen groaned and rubbed her eyes as Shibaru refilled her coffee cup. She
thanked her absently and then froze. Shibaru smiled as she trained a pistol
on She-Hulk. "Hi!"

Jennifer rolled back and struck Shibaru's hand with her foot, sending the
gun spinning. Shibaru vanished and reappeared beside the gun as Jen charged
her. A loop of rope snagged her foot and she fell just as Shibaru fired. The
tranquilizer dart missed Jen as she fell, but hit Utsu who was holding the
rope. She sank to the floor without a sound. Shibaru cursed and moved to
Utsu. She grabbed the unconscious girl and they both vanished.

Jen sat up and looked at the author. "Let's get started, shall we?" The
screen dropped and Jen watched the footage with a sigh. "Weird. Are you sure
they even need me? They look pretty capable of handling a few demons."

	# It'll be fun. You'll love Sasami! Just be careful not to piss Ryoko off
and you'll be fine. #

The vortex formed and Jennifer went in with a sigh.

Aeka leaned back against the rock and closed her eyes. The hot spring had
become her favorite place. She could unwind and forget about a certain
'person'. She sank lower in the water until it lapped her chin and opened
her eyes. Reflections rippled in the water and she straightened enough to
see the beautiful blue sky over head in it's mirror-like shine. White
billowy clouds drifted along, pushed by the soft breeze and Aeka could just
make out the lone dark cloud that was forming over her. She watched the mist
grow larger and frowned at the thought of rain. As something fell from
within the cloud she continued to frown and her mind began to question what
she was seeing. <Clouds don't form that fast, do they?> Aeka moved back and
the water in front of her seemed to explode.

Jen saw the woman as she passed and groaned silently. <Somehow, I don't
think she'll see the humor of this.> She hit the water and immediately
surfaced. Jennifer pushed the hair back from her face and turned to greet,
according to the information she'd been given, the oldest Princess of Jurai.
"Hello."

Aeka blinked and calmly climbed out of the pool. She slipped her robe on
and turned to the intruder. She screamed. A young man came running at the
sound and Jen rolled her eyes. <This could have been handled better.>

Tenchi gripped the sword handle and pushed Aeka behind him. "Who are you?"

Jen leaned back in the water and eyed the young couple. "If I told you
that a horde of demons was about to attack this place and that I was here to
help, would you believe me?" Tenchi scowled and Aeka peeked around him to
stare at the strange woman.

A pleased exclamation filled the air and Jen turned to see a young girl
kneel beside the edge of the water. "Hi! I'm Sasami! Who're you?" Jennifer
laughed at her enthusiasm.

"My name's Jennifer. Pleased to meet you, Sasami."

	"Why are you green?"

Aeka sailed into the room with every once of Jurai royal blood in full
evidence. She was embarrassed by her earlier behavior and was covering for
it. "I'm sorry to keep you all waiting." She spotted Ryoko and her calm mask
slipped a little. Ryoko ignored her deliberately and continued to hover in
the air beside of Tenchi. Which forced Aeka to sit next to Jen.

Jennifer felt the rise of hostility in the room and groaned silently. <Oh
God, not another love triangle?>

 	# Yep. Not as bad as Ranma though. Well, actually now that I think about
it, it might be that bad. Let's see. Aeka and Ryoko both have designs of
Tenchi, but I believe that Sasami just has a crush on him. Then there's
Washuu and Mihoshi. I don't think Kiyone is interested though.#

Jen sighed and picked up where she'd left off. "I'm really just here to
lend a hand and provide interesting character interaction. The demons don't
appear to be that strong, there's just a lot of them."

Tenchi shook his head and looked at the others. "Then I guess we don't
need to call in Mihoshi and Kiyone." He glanced back at Jen in time to see
her vanish.

Tenchi turned on Ryoko who was holding up her hands in a gesture of
innocence. "Wasn't me. Feels more like Washuu." Tenchi dragged a hand down
his face and groaned.

Jen cursed fluently as she tried to snap her bonds once again. The metal
clamps that were pinning her into place on the examining table didn't appear
to be that strong. She was finding out differently. A small red haired kid
was slapping electrodes on various parts of Jennifer's body and mumbling
something about tests. "Let me go! Hey! Are you listening to me? Hey kid!"
Washuu looked up at that and smiled widely. Then she went back to hooking
Jen up to the very LARGE machine that LOOMED over her helpless form.

"Cut that out! It's bad enough as it is without you turning dramatic!"

Washuu frowned at her meaningless ramble. "Who are you talking to?"

She-Hulk jerked her head toward the author. "To the author of this mess!"

Washuu turned and the author waved. "Hello. Do you mind if I perform some
experiments on this anomaly?"

	# Feel free. #

"WHAT!!" The metal clamps squealed as they tore loose from their moorings.
Washuu raised a lone eyebrow in what might have been surprise. She-Hulk
ripped the wires from her and looked around for a way out. A door
materialized out of thin air and Tenchi stepped into Washuu's lab.

"Uh, sorry to interrupt, but we need to do something about the demons that
have just dropped into the back yard."

Washuu sighed as they left and began to study the small amount of data
she'd gotten.

Jennifer was almost relieved when she saw the demons. They were a known
quantity at least. She saw Ryoko decapitating monsters with a feral grin and
quickly joined the battle. She didn't want to miss out. Her bracelet glowed
and Jen gritted her teeth as she felt herself rise into the air.

Across the battlefield, uh, the backyard, Aeka sniffed at Jen's lack of
modesty. <How common!> She looked back in time to dodge the huge fist that
was coming towards her.

The glowing sword was a nice touch and strange clothing wasn't too bad
either. At least everything was covered. Tenchi saw her clothes and frowned.
"Those are Jurai markings."

"Don't worry. I'm not claiming any special privileges or anything like
that. My weapon adapts itself to whatever anime I'm in." A loud growl caught
their attention.

Ryoko was being held in the fist of a huge demon, who appeared to be
growing larger. He was glowing faintly and Tenchi groaned as he saw Ryoko
faint. "It's draining her energy!" He charged the beast, a sword appearing
in his hands. The blade never connected as the monster threw Ryoko at him
and knocked him back.

She-Hulk approached a little more cautiously. She let him take a few
swings at her and then lunged for his throat. The blade made a small cut,
but Jen had been hoping for something a little more decisive. The demon
dealt her a glancing blow and she hit the base of a tree with a dull thud.
Jen moaned and sat up, staring at the tree. The bark was unblemished and she
wished she could say the same for herself. An odd meowing sound caught her
attention and she looked down to find a small bunny rabbit in her lap. It
meowed again and she realized that whatever it was, it wasn't a rabbit.

Sasami popped up from nowhere and scooped the creature into her arms.
"Ryo-oh-ki! You shouldn't be out here, it's too dangerous!"

Jen was about to say the same for Sasami when another roar reminded her of
the large problem a few yards away. She picked Sasami and Ryo-oh-ki up and
set them into the deep branches of the tree. "You should be safe here. If
the this tree can take me crashing into it without a scratch it should be
able to protect you." Sasami sighed and watched her join the others. A faint
rustle drew her attention up and she saw an older girl perched precariously
above her. She was clutching a video camera aimed at the battle. Sasami
smiled at her and waved. "Hi!"

Nabiki waved back sheepishly and returned to work.

The demon had backed Aeka into a corner when Jen's flying kick sent him
back across the yard. Aeka nodded grudgingly to her and went to pull Ryoko
off of Tenchi.

As the beast stood again, Jen drew a deep breath and held her ground as he
advanced. "All right you big goon! Let's try this again!" He swung at her
again and she leaped over him, onto his back. Her sword whistled as it split
the air and severed the giant's head. The monster fell, shaking the
surrounding area.

Jen jumped away from the body, expecting it to vanish. It didn't. Instead
another head formed and the demon rose again. "Now wait just a damn minute!"
Jen strode to the edge of the monitor.

	# What? #

"You didn't say anything about regenerating demons!" Jen pointed her sword
at the author and sparks flew as the tip touched the force shield.

	# Remember the power it absorbed from Ryoko? #

She-Hulk frowned. "Yeah. So that thing's still riding the juice from that?"

	# Yep. Uh, I think you should turn around, Jen. #

"Wha-" Jen turned as the demon grabbed her. "Argghhh!"

Jen gripped the fingers that were trying to reduce her to cheap pate and-

"Hey! I resent that! I'm not cheap!"

	# Sorry. #

Jen gripped the fingers that were trying to reduce her into prime pate and
pulled with all of her considerable strength.

	"Thank you."

	# Your welcome. #

The oversized digits yielded and she found herself falling into the hot
spring once again. She came up spluttering and glared at the author. "I
guess I should be glad you didn't drop me into an alligator pit."

	# Didn't think of it in time. #

Jennifer crawled out and made her way over to Tenchi and Aeka. Ryoko was
still unconscious, but she'd wrapped her arms around Tenchi and they
couldn't get her off. Jen disengaged the pair, much to Aeka's relief. "Let's
see how many heads it takes to get to the center of an out-sized demon,
shall we?"

The three spread out and attacked from different directions. Tenchi's
sword dealt the 'killing' blow and they waited. The rumbling growl answered
their question and they began again. Time after time they charged the beast
and always another head formed to replace the lost one.

A misstep and Aeka was sent hurtling into the base of the tree. She didn't
get back up again. Tenchi let out a battle cry and charged the demon. Who
sent him spinning through the garden wall. Jen shook her head and sliced the
demon's hand off, which immediately grew back. She began to slice away parts
at random, whatever she could reach. She had just severed it's head again,
when she heard Sasami's plaintive cry.

"Aeka, wake up!" Jen turned to see her kneeling beside her sister. She
broke into a run and reached them in seconds. Aeka was out cold. "I think
she's all right, Sasami. She just got the wind knocked out of her. Let's get
you both back into the tree, all right?" Jen settled Aeka next to Sasami and
felt a large hand wrap around her. As she was yanked up, she thought she saw
a familiar face.

The demon had both hands around her and She-Hulk couldn't get any
leverage. He tightened his grip and she couldn't breath. As she blacked out,
She-Hulk wondered how the author would pull her out of this one.

The author was wondering the same thing. A quick run down of the
characters involved left Washuu as the only source of help.

Shibaru saw She-Hulk pass out and called to Utsu. She appeared beside of
her and surveyed the scene. "This is bad, Shibaru. If she gets killed then
we won't have anyone to play with." Shibaru grabbed Utsu and they disappeared.

Washuu looked up from her computer to stare at the two women who'd just
appeared in her lab. "Can I hel- Let me rephrase that. What do you want?"

The taller of the pair stepped forward and pointed to the video display
where the events outside were playing. "We need to stop that demon before it
kills She-Hulk." Shibaru waved a hand to Utsu and herself. "We have other
plans for her that don't include a funeral."

Washuu eyed their outfits and grinned. That could be interesting. "If I
help you I would like something in exchange."

	"Name it."

Washuu walked across the ruined back yard towards the demon and sighed.
Such a mess. She stopped in front of the giant and let him roar at her for a
moment. Then she pointed one hand at the demon and the other at Ryoko.
Energy began to flow from the demon in a wispy blue trail. It ran through
Washuu and out to Ryoko, who began to stir. The demon evaporated as all of
it's energy was drained away. She-Hulk fell into the waiting arms of Washuu.

Jen groaned and opened her eyes, squinting as the bright array off lights
over head blinded her. She turned her head away and saw Washuu standing
beside of her. The familiar feel of steel clamps and electrodes around her
caused Jen to swear. "Damn it! Not again! Let me go Washuu. The demon..."
She trailed off as Washuu held up a hand.

"Destroyed." She pulled on a rubber glove and let it snap against her
wrist. "Now. I need some samples." Her smile was just this side of
malevolent and Jen screamed at the author. "Do something!"

Unfortunately the author was dealing with a rather nasty virus at that
moment and didn't hear her. As her computer turned against her, she lost
contact with the fiction.

The author called up the file with a relieved sigh. How Washuu had managed
to infect her computer was still a mystery, but the damage had finally been
repaired.

Jen appeared back on the starting page and looked around. The author noted
her undressed state and provided a pair of jeans and a T-shirt. Jen stared
at the author and didn't speak.

	# Uh...what happened? # Jen said nothing.

	# A virus locked my system down. There was nothing I could do. I got back
as fast as I could! # Silence. # Are you all right? # The author was getting
worried. # Did the twins catch you?#

Jennifer's voice was flat. "I don't want to talk about it." She shoved the
memories of the hellish 'examination' away and climbed into bed. Jen pulled
the covers around her tightly and willed herself to sleep. For once the
twins made no attempts to catch her.

Nabiki watched the video she had shot in Washuu's lab end and turned to
see how they had liked it. She didn't speak, not wanting to call attention
to herself, but Shibaru smiled at her warmly.

"Excellent! You have such an....innovative style, Nabiki. I'm very glad
that you came with us." She stood stepped down from the tall-backed throne
she had been sitting on. The whole room was laid out like a medieval throne
room. Two tall chairs sat on a raised pedestal. Nabiki trembled as Shibaru
approached, but didn't back away. She knew better by now.

Shibaru gripped her chin and raised her face. "You are truly gifted. In
many areas."

Nabiki gulped as Utsu began to laugh.
