What I'm trying to get at is, in 35 years, it'll be 2032.
Yes, THAT
2032. Do YOU see a future of giant Mecha or MegaCorporations taking
over? Is THE Earthquake going to hit Kanto or California?

My opinion is from something I've heard: Man's understanding of the
world doubles about every 7 years. This means by 2032, we will know
more than 32 times as much as we do today. In as short of timespan as
that, that is a great deal of knowlege that we will have learned. So by
then, science will have strong hold on the world as everyone is still
struggling to catch up. So yes, these things can happen. I don't
remember were I heard that from, but it seems logical to me.

I don't know about THE Earthquake, but it is likely that California
will
suffer at least one major earthquake between by 2032. However,
because of
building standards in California, unless the epicenter is directly
beneath
a major city, even a huge earthquake (Richter 7+) is not going to
destroy
the economy of the state.

We are overdue by over 20 years for our major earthquake here in
Seattle. Unfortuneately, building codes here in Washington are not up
to California's earthquake standards. In a simulation, they have
estimated that over 30% of Seattle will be heavily damaged. And being
the center of the state's commercial and industrial sector, this will
severely hurt the economy of our state. With the increasing number of
earthquakes we've been getting recently, I have a bad feeling it is
coming soon.

Of more concern to the US is the New Madrid
fault which in a 3 month period (1811-1812) produced four earthquakes
greater than magnitude 7.3 (1 or 2 of them are estimated to be greater
than
magnitude 8).

Is our future so bleak or is it filled with sunshine and happy
days?

  Both.

I believe our future will depend on those who build it, namely the
scientists. Cloning is already here and the ethics of these people are
what will decide our fate.
