   Are we supposed to be impressed at the quantity or that few of these
authors submit their stories for C&C in forums such as the FFML?  The
authors who post to the FFML, regardless of the series that serves as
inspiration, seek criticism and feedback so that they can improve the story
and improve their overall writing skills.  How many of the authors who
collectively produce this weekly *megabyte* of SM fanfiction submit their
creations to prereaders?  How many use C&C to revise and polish their
stories?  I doubt that a megabyte of fanfiction can be C&C'd and revised
every week. 

   
   With all due respect to the late Ted Sturgeon, his generalization, like
most such rules, breaks down in the particular.  For example, the fanfic
devotees of KOR, who produce an insignificant volume by comparison to SM,
can be proud that so much of their work is represented by well written
stories such as Kimagure Orange College.
