Yuugi, and I think that's why I was never able to write a fanfic on it.  I
had set the stage for a Fushigi Yuugi vs. Ranma crossover at the end of
Ranma: Prom Night, but then my friend said something intersting to me.
"Don't write a Fushigi Yuugi fanfic!  It's already perfect, you'll just end
up screwing up the characters!"  I dismissed her at first like I usually do
^_^ but...  I've seen up to eps 44 and the OAV's, and I think the story is
complete and for nearly all intents and purposes, perfect.  There's nothing I
can do to expand the story.  Sure a silly Ranma vs. Fushigi Yuugi fic would
be fun, but for me at least, I'd feel it'd be pointless writing it.  Ranma
and Sailor Moon have great characters but never go too much in depth on the
characters, making it prime fanfic fodder.  But FY to me, is untouchable...
ANyone else ever feel this way?  

Hmm... really? It's more that FY is a rather self-contained story for me,
but not really the best. Kinda silly/cute/serious at times, but it doesn't
really touch... However, there are some anime/manga stories that I just
can't imagine writing for, but the ones that I feel are very, very good, I
can write about because there's alway room to expand on them ^_^ Like CLAMP
stuff... because of the strong tradition and writers who spend time in their
world, i don't feel so odd writing there... 

Now, onto C&C on the two new FY fanfics...

Alwyas, Forever occurs after the end of the TV series I'm assuming right?
Because I think Miaka does forget about Tamahome and everyone at the end of
the OAV's.  

Well, end of the 1st story set of the manga (13) I suppose, then. ^_^
Or end of TV, tho' I haven't seen it yet, I would assume that something of
the sort happens...

I liked it, it was a solid story that told the story it wanted to

tell, Miaka's life without Tamahome, well.  I think you mentioned
disappointment regarding 37-44, but I really loved to see how Miaka acts in
the real world setting.  It was great seeing Miaka in the real world, even if
it was just an illusion.  I liked to see how Miaka acts in the real world
WITH her memories of everybody more.  But at the same time, I think the
greatest thing about FY is all the terrific characters.  I'm probably
nitpicking here, but the story almost "just" Miaka doesn't touch me as much.
All in all, although I'll never write an FY story, this gives me reason to
want to read more FY fanfics.  ^_^

Well, yes. Some of the fun of FY is the chara interaction- some really
strong characters in the story. But this one was a bit of a surprise for me,
actually, since I sort of idly thought "Hmm... what if Taka didn't exist.."
and then I started to write... ^_^

I suppose I should go back and clarify the end.. people seemed a bit
confused at different parts ^_^
