Do you mean the original Macross TV series or the Macross movie?

In the original Macross TV, the Macross crashed on Earth in 1999 and Space
War I occurs in 2009-2012. In the canonical Macross timeline, Ai
Oboeteimasu ka? (Do You Remember Love?), was a movie that premiered in 2031
and was based on the events in Space War I. 

In the Macross: DYRL timeline, all of the movie takes place in 2009.

The question is related to an idea I got for an Evangelion fic :)  I
always wondered how well an Evangelion would do against a Macross mecha.
Of course, it's just an idea right now, and I don't feel like writing
anything at all this summer.

On the ground or in the air? With Valkyries or Destroids?

I haven't seen much Evangelion, but I would say that a Valkyrie would win a
1v1 fight with an Eva due to its air mobility and multiple missiles. The
power cord is a vulnerable point. Even if the Evas have a 5 minute
independent power supply, a Valkyrie can do evasive maneuvers until the Eva
runs out of power. No AT field. No Eva soon after.

On the ground, any Valkyrie or Destroid would be toast.

I think the Macross could win against an Evangelion, though.
