A story like this has already been written: "The Long and Winding Road",
by Zen.

I'm really tired of seeing these kinds of one-sided characterizations:
Akane as a mindless violent maniac, and Ukyo as the selfless devoted
friend. I am not saying that these are not valid interpretations; I'm
saying that IMO characters with more than one dimension will make for a
better story.
