Well, I have been reading this from the start, so I thought taht I should go
back to the original post that started this argument, and give my thoughts.
Here we go!!!
I have Mr. Lawson in my killfile because of 'Transitions.' His fanfic
basically -unwrote- the fundamental premise of Nuku-Nuku. The show said, 'A
cat's brain -can- be used in an android.' Mr. Lawson basically said, 'No it
can't, the cat dies.' Yet another in a long list of OOC/OOF violations which
made Lawson's fics totally unreadable for me.
That's not the way I understood it. It wouldn't matter if you used a cat
brain, a monkey brain, a human brain, or a bugblatter beast from Trall
brain. Eventually, the brain would wear out, and cease to function.
Unfortunatly, that happens a lot sooner for cats then it does humans.
My attitude is this: Nuku's brain had to have been electronically enhanced
in order to make it programmable; presumably, those enhancements would also
extend the operating lifespan of the brain, in addition to boosting its
intelligence and processing capacity.
Actually, I think that all the modifications made to the brain would tend
shorten the lifespan, rather then lengthen it. The brain is like a very
complex computer. If you start rewiring the computer, you run the risk of
short circuiting it. You also run the risk of accidently modifing some
other circuit/wire/conducter/whatever, that could have lethal effects that
don't surface for sometime. I'm not saying that it isn't possible that the
brainlife wasn't extended. I am saying that the opposite is also true, and
there is a possibility that it wasn't affected at all.
Furthermore, the android was constructed to be a combat android, over Dr.
Natsume's protests. It was built to keep operating under the most hostile
conditions, without maintenance, cleaning, or oxygen in some cases.
This is a case of the monitor staying on even though the computer is turned
off. Yes, the BODY was designed to keep operating under the most hostile
conditions. That doesn't matter if it is braindead.
I have no doubts that Nuku's brain is well protected. }:-{D
Neither do I. That doesn't mean that it won't die.
This is a cool start. I'm very interested to see how it develops, both with
CGNN's slapstick comedy and BGC's angsty dystopian drama.
Well, I really liked this story. I wouldn't mind seeing BGC getting a
little more humorous. But, while reading this, I kept on thinking, "My god.
Ryynosuke, Kyusaku, Akiko, and the dirty pair are gone. How is Atsuko going
to define herself now? She has no family, no one to protect. She has lost
everything." and I kept on seeing a journey of self discovery for Nuku Nuku.
She could emulate to the extreme each of the KS (Well, she already is an
extreme Nene...). What if she went completely feral? Cats are among the
best hunters in the world, so what would Nuku Nuku be like if she started to
emulate Priss? Cats are also very arrogant creatures, so what if she became
like Sylia? Cats don't tend to be ones that recieve little characterzation
in either fics or anime, so I don't think that she would emulate Linna. (^_^)
I can't wait for the next part.
