Konnichiwa!
	Who here besides me has noticed that almost every fanfic, ALMOST I
said, has to do with Ranma? Is it just the easiest one to write on, or
just the most well known? I've never done any Ranma fics, and I'd like
to know what's so exciting about them, ne? Anyone like to fill me in?

There are several possible reasons for this.

(these are in no definite order)

1) Flexibility. It has been shown that you can twist and bend the characters
and situations of Ranma 1/2 and still keep it more or less ranmaesque and make
a good story.
(good example is 'Ministry of Confusion' (by Stefan Gange (sp?) I think))
You can also transplant the Ranma characters quite easily. You can have them as
the Knight Sabers, Sailor Senshi etc. without many problems.

2) The Ranma 1/2 universe is large and there are hell of a lot of people in
there 
already, so you have lots of material to work with.

3) People like Ranma, so if you make a Ranma 1/2 story you can rest assured that
people read it. (if it's any good) If you wrote an Appleseed or Wicked City -fic
it isn't that certain that people will read it. 

3b)Also more people have heard of Ranma 1/2 than for example of KO Century
Beast 
or Bakuretsu Hunters or of many other anime series. I don't know whether or not
people read fics if they have never heard of the series, but I usually don't.

4) "everybody else is doing it, so why can't I?" People write Ranma fics which 
inspires more people write Ranma fics.
