Hello, I'm just a lurker of the FFML who has just decided to join in with
a bit more "real" writing, instead of just Bulwer-Lytton stuff. Well,
here's my first contribution of hopefully more to come!

Start Time: 11:28 PM

An Untitled Tenchi One Hour Story

Washu was slouched upon her floating cushion, eyeing the semi-transparent
computer screen before her while she typed away at her keyboard. It had
been a year since she had escaped the Soja, thanks to the help of one
peculiar young boy. Finally, after untold hours of hacking, she would soon
crack the code that locked away the coordinates of Kagato's "personal"
sub-space storage unit. The code was uncommonly complex, which meant that
Kagato must have taken an extraordinary amount of time making it, and that
intrigued Washu.

"Almost... just one more... YES!" cried the deceptively young supra-genius.

Washu cackled triumphantly while rubbing her hands together, then began to
start up the program that would create a door that would link her own
subspace to Kagato's secret laboratory. She leapt off the cushion and
turned towards the materializing doorway.

"Now..." said the diminutive red head as she was about to enter the
doorway, "Let's just see what Kagato was so protective about."

Washu stopped mere inches from the portal as she noticed a shimmering ruby
film, just barely noticeable, covering up the entrance. Grunting, she
mentally chided the dead megalomaniac for his un imaginativeness. With a
wave of her hand, she dispersed the deadly energy field, which, in any
"lesser" genius' case, would have turned the snooper into a fine mist of
atoms.

The mother of Ryoko finally entered the laboratory, taking all into
account with her scrutinizing eyes. This sub-space was rather small,
resembling a long hallway instead of a small solar system. Her gazed
passed over the various creations of Kagato, dismissing most as feeble
attempts at imitating things that she had already made.

"Pocket sized Guyver unit... Infinity Gauntlet... control power key
staff... Moldiver unit key chain... inflatable Armitage," Washu blushed,
giggling at the last object while thoughts of why Kagato would have one
floated through her mind. "Bead of filial devotion... Soul Edge...
hard-suit for men...

Little Washu continued her way down the sub-space "closet", examining any
object that caught her attention. Slowly she made her way past what seemed
like an anime otaku's dream come true. Finally, she reached the beginning
of Kagato's "failed" creations. She began at a the first failed invention
and worked her way down, reading the convenient little tag explaining just
why the thing failed. After a few minutes, Washu began to near the end of
the storage unit.

"English translation of Seiken Desestu 3... failed because of nasty bug...
Tamagotchi Boomer... kept starving to death and leaving large messes...
what looks like a baby Ryoko in a stasis unit..." Washu's eyes widened
dramatically as she got the shock of her 20,000+ year life, "Kagato, what
did you do?"

Washu quickly snatched up the tag, skipping past about why it failed and
getting to the information on the life-form. Washu's eyes moved slowly,
absorbing each word, her face turning pale as she read on.

"Project "Kyouran Akuma": A combination of the DNA found in Ryoko and a
dead Jurai tree that was obtained from the failed attempt at stealing the
Tsunami unit on Jurai. Objective: To create a totally controlled being
with the same energy harnessing powers of Ryoko and the latent ability to
create the Light Hawk Wings."

The genius quickly looked back to the reasons of failure, her hands
shaking as she thought of the implications of what Kagato had done.

"Reasons of failure: Genetically unstable. Due to the incompatibility of
the DNA found in Ryoko and that of a Jurai tree, the being undergoes
periods of intense pain. The being is also free-willed, and can not be
controlled through mental or mechanical means, unlike Ryoko. Given time,
both problems could be fixed, but Ryoko has been detected. Further venture
in a useless creation is not needed"

Washu's face scrunched up in anger at the last sentence. Useless.
Useless!! Washu was furious. Kagato had created a life and, after finding
it to be "useless", abandoned it! Washu crumpled the tag and looked up at
the figure before her. It resembled a 3 year-old version of Ryoko, her
eyes closed as it floated, unconscious, in stasis. Her hair was softer
than the spiky mane which Ryoko wore with pride, but that wasn't the only
thing that was different. Instead of Ryoko's cyan color, this child's hair
was a glowing silver, radiating a soft iridescent light. She looked so
fragile, so innocent, lonely. Suddenly, memories of her own child, the one
she left 20,000 years ago at the academy, flooded her mind. Tears began to
flow down Washu's cheeks.

"Damn you Kagato, damn you for your cold heart," weeped Washu, her heart
going out to the life floating in front of her, "How could you abandon such
a thing?"

Washu then looked up, knowing what she must do. In fact, she welcomed it.
She knew that she could never get close with Ryoko, acknowledging the fact
that she was not there when Ryoko needed her most. But now, here was her
chance, her chance to raise another child, to watch it grow and love her.

"My... daughter," whispered Washu, as she unlocked the stasis, "Don't
worry, I'll take care of you."

The stasis field disappeared in a flicker of light. Washu smiled as she
noticed the child's eyes beginning to open. Green! They were green, just
like her mothers! A vibrant green, full of mischief and life! Washu wiped
the tears from her eyes, looking upon her new child. The child's eyes then
suddenly widened, startling Washu. A piercing scream issued forth from the
child's mouth as she suddenly collapsed in intense pain.

... heh heh... times up!

End Time: 12:27am

Wow... my first try at a real beginning to a fan fic! I was really
pushing it there. I think I had something like 30 seconds left! Could you
tell the end was rushed? So, how was it! Tell me, please! It would
REALLY help my ego. I'm pretty un confident with writing real stories
write now. I write stuff at school, the teachers say it's great, but I
think it's crap! So, please reply! I'm hoping to keep this story going!
Well, thanx for at least reading this far!
