Standard newbie disclaimer.  I've never been much of a writter so
obviously this is my first attempt at a fanfic.  Hell, I'm just now starting
to even learn how to use this damn computer.  In case your curious folks I
bought this thing just to read all the fanfiction my friends kept showing me.
 Take it as a compliment as it is intended as such.  This crossover idea was
not entirely my own.  I stole the basic concept from a teaser.  Since I'm not
an exceptional typer I will not check for spelling and grammer.  I hope that
you can forgive these shortfalls.  So on with our story.

     Reality Check: By Randy Hopkins

     Tali Arn gazed over the arena.  Among him stood the greatest fighters in
the universe.  Warriors that could crush planets with a single blow, or
perform feats of magic beyond comprehension.  This however was not an
uncommon sight at the tournament for the legendary Dragon Ballz. 

     This tournament was uncommon for a very different reason.  For the first
time not only were the greatest warriors of this reality invited but the
greatest from other realities as well.  Tali Arm could not help but be awed
by the diversity of competitors around him.  

     Most would be fooled by the deceptive apperance conveyed by the
outworlders.  From Earth 2 a band calling themselves the Sailor Scouts faired
very well in the tournament.  One calling herself Sailor Saturn had even
managed to defeat the mighty Vegeta in one of the later rounds. 

     Tali could only grin as he remembered seeing the Sailor Scout call out
comical phrases after each attack.  As silly as the attack sounded the
rusulting blast was anything but funny.  Vegetta was forced to keep
tranforming to higher points of being in order to match her onslaught.  Tali
felt a sense of relief that his defeat dod not come from such a comical
attack.  No, his was at the hands of another Earther.  An Earther who fought
with the skill and tenacity never before seen.  He was good.  Danm good.

     Thinking back to his match Tali couldn't help but put a hand on his
broken arm.  The Earther didn't mean to blast him through the Higani Mountain
Range but he like so many of the outworlders had a hard time adjusting to the
enhanced chi of this realited.  The balst itself was of little concern to one
of Talis' skill.  It was the simple arm bar and leverage throw that snapped
his arm.  More impressive still was the choke hold that put him out of the
tournament.  In hand to hand combat few would be able to last long, and Tali
seriously doubted any could best the Earther. 

     Bets were being placed for the final match up of the tournament. It came
sooner thant expected when Ryu of Earth 3 broke his arm Dragon Punching a
Teknoman of Earth 12.  The rising dragon was a bueaty as it streaked almost
to the orbiting satilite camera.  Even though it was a complete knockout Ryu
was in no shape to continue.  That left the winner of this simi-final round
the champion.

     The battle had gone on for 2 days now.  Neither opponent was in the best
of shape.  Ranma Saotome was breathing very heavily.  Each breath he took was
agony as the broken ribs stabbed into his lungs.  

     He had used every trick he could think of.  Only by channeling his Chi
into his own body was he even able to stand.  This opponent of his was a
monster.  No matter what he threw at this guy nothing would put him down.
 The fact that his abilities were enhanced in this reality barely made a
difference.  Each time he had his opponent beat the bastard transformed into
a more powerful fighter.  

     Despair started to work it's way into his heart.  He needed those Dragon
Ballz.  Only with those could he hope to find ......

     Goku suddenly saw an opening.  His opponent seemed distracted with some
thought.  Goku flew his and punched Ranma with everything he had.  

     Goku watched as his opponent slamed into the ground.  Hopefully this
would be the last of this insanity. Goku seldom in his life had felt as much
pain as he had at this moment.  His opponent cried fowl when he started to
fly and use an airborn attack, but what choice did he have.  His left knee
was shattered and that heart punch nearly killed him.  Damn, how many times
did that boy hit him....2000, 3000, in a span of seconds.  

     Worse yet the kid was every bit as creative with chi attacks as he was.
 Every thing Goku thought of Ranma found a counter to.  Goku even used his
chi to make illusionary copies of himself to get in close.  The kid however
used his chi to send out a pulse and used it like a Radar.  

     Ranma pulled himself out of the crater.  ' This is getting me nowhere',
Ranma thought to himself as he spit out a few of his teeth.  He needed to get
close to his opponent.  He wasn't as strong as his opponent even with chi
enhancement but he was faster and was better at hand to hand.  How to get him
close?  Fortunately Goku solved the problem for him.

     Shock took Goku as he saw his opponent rise from the crater.  This was
getting dangerous.  The power levels the two were throwing around would
normally shatter star systems.  Fortunatly the damper shield in the arena
stopped the energy from spreading past the designated battle field.  Then an
idea came to Goku.  Ranma was channeling his chi to keep himself going.  If
Goku could throw Ranma into the boundry then maybe the shield would drain
enough of his chi so that the boy could not recover.  With a last burst of
speed Goku hurled himself at the staggering youth.  

     This was what Ranma had been waiting for, a chance to get in close.  He
knew he had to time this right or else he was going to be in a lot of pain.  

     Goku flew right into Ranma like a cannonball driving his shoulder deep
into his gut.  A loud "OOOOOF" could be heard has the wind was forced out of
Ranma.  However Ranma strugled and reached behing Goku and with a strong poke
jammed Goku sleep spot.  

     Goku felt a strong stab of pain behind his neck as he let go of Ranma
sending him into the shield.  With a surge of power Ranma fell limp to the
ground breathing very weakly.  Goku rose to his feet and limped over to the
boy warrior.  As sad sigh escaped his lips as he noticed Ranma also rise with
great effort.

     "I don't get it how come you didn't fall asleep.  I know I hit the right
nerve." Ranma gasped as he edged closer to Goku.

     "You made a serious mistake, I'm not human.  I have a slightly different
anatomy."  Goku slowly started to build himself up for his final chi attack.
 This was it.  After this final burst he would have nothing left.  "It's time
we ended this.  I just want to say I'ts been a great honor battling you.  I
look forward to meeting you again at the next tournament."  

      Ranma watched Goku slowly build his chi for his final assault.  He
needed to time this right.  With a scowl Ranma thought of the only reply that
came to his mind.  "Bite me."  With that point of high literature said he to
slowly built up his Hiro Shoten Ha.  

     The release of energy from Goku formed into a huge burst as it was
caught up into the Hiro Shotne Ha and amplified with it's power.  The result
was beyond description.  Seeing a gail form on a cosmic scale was a sight to
behold.  Even the Shields powered in part by the magic of the Dragonballz
themselves were starting to crumble.  Finally with a last burst of life the
funnel died down.

     Standing in the middle of the field stood Ranma carrying an unconcious
Goku out of the arena.  

     From the stadiums an anouncer could be heard.  "Final Match Ranma
Soatome."

     Two weeks later:

     Ranma walked out of the infirmary.  Even with Ranma's amazing healing
factor it took a long time for Ranma to recover.  He had slipped into a coma
for the first week and only started walking today.  

     Goku had stopped by to visit on many occasions to see how the young man
was doing.  Him and Ranma talked about their lives and found out that they
had much in common.  Martial Arts, Love of Food, and violent women in their
lives.  

     During their time together Goku got to know Ranma quite well.  It was
during one of their sparring sessions that Goku had to ask a question that
hounded at him. 

"Why did you enter the contest Ranma?  You fought well beyond your abilities.
 It was like you were possessed.  As if your very soul was at stake."

"If you must know it because I have a very, how should I say, unusual
problem."

After a short description Goku could hardly believe what he heard.  A
sympathetic nod confirmed Goku's support and understanding.

     Finally the day Ranma had longed for came.  Before him stood the
legendary Dragon Ballz.  Today he would finally get his greatest wish.  

     Ranma reached out and softly spoke his deepest desires, "I wish...I wish
I had the courage to tell Akane how much I love her."


There done and only 11 minutes over the alloted time.  It was fun.  Now I
can't wait to see what the real authors write.
