Chapter 2
~~~~~~~~
	Tokyo was in ruins. Only two buildings were left standing. Why had this
had to happen? The boy sat on the edge of a railing on the Tokyo Tower
and felt his heart cry at the sight of the majestic city destroyed. He
brushed his black hair away from his golden eyes and glanced around
wearily. His black high school uniform was stained and ripped, a slash
like that from a sword ran across the back. He stared out into the
desolation and thought of his childhood. He had been so happy. But now,
all of it had been shattered. He hated himself for not having been
stronger. He might have been able to save her. He should have been able
to save her. Kotori....
	“Kamui.”
	He stood and whirled around to face a young man all in white robes,
black hair ruffled in the breeze. They stood staring at each other for
several moments.
	“Subaru.” He said softly, looking at a man he had thought dead.
	“Kamui, there was nothing you could do to help any of them. It is our
destiny.” The young spiritualist said gently, his green eyes on the boy
before him. ‘Destiny?’ he though to himself, ‘Is that really what this
is?  Is there really only one future for this world? He’s been through
so much, and it’s not over yet.’
	“Destiny.” Kamui turned away, and looked out at the horror that had
once been Tokyo. “Is my destiny really to destroy the only remaining
person who truly cared for me? My destiny seems to have all ready been
decided, but what about you? What is your destiny Subaru Sumeragi? Will
you die as well?”
	Subaru didn’t answer. He stared out towards the raising sun and thought
about his sister. Hokuto... His eyes hardened as he thought of her
killer. Seishirou. Why had it been him? He had been so kind to them, he
had understood how he felt. Why did he have to be.... He knew all to
well what the younger boy next to him felt. As a Dragon of Heaven, his
duty was to die protecting his Seal. He knew who was waiting for him as
well. They seemed destined to fight, from the very beginning. Seishirou
Sakurazukamori, the last of the Dragons of Earth. They would fight, he
knew that all ready. Just as the two ‘Kamui’s would meet. Destiny.
Suddenly he turned, a ward ready in his hands. Something was coming.
Something evil.
	“No.”
	He turned and stared as Kamui walked forward. His golden eyes were
hard, but Subaru saw tears sparkling in the corners of them.
	“It’s not coming for you. It’s for me.”
	Subaru nodded and backed away. He would not interfere with this final
battle. He turned and leapt over to the last remaining roof top. Someone
was there waiting for him.
	“Subaru-kun.” The tall man dressed in a black trench coat was a stark
contrast to his white robes. His one good eye gleamed beneath dark
glasses.
	“Sakurazukamori.” He said, his voice filling with hatred.
	Seishirou smiled at  his opponent and thought of how fitting it was for
him to be wearing the same outfit that his sister had died in. He hadn’t
really meant to kill her, but that was in the past. They would finish
this the only way it could be. The emptiness of his soul had become
burdening to him. He was just glad it was ending now.
	“Shall we begin?”
	“Fuma, why are you doing this?!” Kamui cried, dodging the huge sword as
the taller boy lunged at him again. “Stop fighting me! I don’t want to
fight you!”
	“I am Kamui! It is our destiny to fight! Fight me!” The green-gray eyed
man yelled, leaping for the slim form before him.
	“You are not Kamui! I am! You’re Fuma! Fuma Monou! Stop!” He tripped
and fell over backwards, scrambling out of the way as Fuma brought his
sword down in a sparkling arch. Kamui rose and shut his eyes tightly.
>From his open hands, a golden sphere grew until it began to cover the
entire Tower. “Fuma....”
	Seishirou looked over as the kekkie began to cover the two combatants,
sealing them into their battle ground. He smiled at Subaru and readied
himself for the younger man’s attack. He was letting his anger cloud his
mind. It was helpful here not to have emotions.
	“Subaru-kun, shall we fight here, without protection?”
	Subaru grit his teeth and sought for the calmness that eluded him. He
forever had the memory of Hokuto going to her death in the same kind of
outfit he wore been burned into his mind. He would not fail to avenge
her. He swore it. He wouldn’t let Sakurazukamori get away with his
sister’s murder. He concentrated and a beam of light sprang from his
hands and shot into the air. A kekkie began its majestic descent, a star
shaped barrier.
	“The kekkie of the head of the Sumeragi clan. Most impressive. Now, let
us end this now.”
	At almost the same moment the two powers clashed within Subaru’s
kekkie, Kamui had drawn his sword, the exact copy of Fuma’s, from mid
air. Just as the swords clashed an explosion rocked all of what was once
Tokyo. Subaru and Seishirou looked up as the light spread and ate away
the kekkie surrounding them. Subaru yelled as it enveloped him. Within
the other kekkie, both figures floated, staring at the light which had
dared to interrupt this final battle. Kamui screamed as he was covered,
and suddenly, he knew no more.
	“She’s not coming. She probably doesn’t even know that we’re in
trouble.” Moaned Primera, her little wings drooping and her eyes
watering. Lantis ignored her and looked out on the buckling land beyond
Celf’s barrier. It wouldn’t hold up much longer. And Eagle was getting
weaker and weaker trying to hold the world together. True, he was only
the pivotal Will, keeping the others focused, but much of his energy was
being drained for it.
	“Lantis, you’d better come back in, the shield’s shrinking again.”
	He turned and looked at Caldina who was watching him with a worried
look on her face. Rafaga stood slightly behind her. He turned to follow
them, when something made him pause and take one more look. He took a
chance and shut his eyes, and prayed. ‘Hikaru-chan, please come back to
us. We, I need you. Eagle needs you.’
	As he opened his eyes, a blast of fire exploded before the palace. He
gasped and raised his cape up to block his face. Cladina screamed and
grabbed Rafaga’s arm. Within, Eagle suddenly relaxed and sighed. When he
looked up, Lantis thought his heart would stop. It was Rayearth. He
stood, his arms outstretched, pushing the strange force that was eating
away at their world. He smiled. She had come.
	Celf stood, the rest of the people from the castle behind him as
Rayearth landed and looked down at them. Lantis walked forward and
looked up.
	“Hikaru-chan....” he said softly. She appeared suddenly from the mecha
and fell gracefully into his arms. She hugged him tightly and wiped a
tear away as he set her down. She turned and ran over to Eagle and
embraced him as well. Then she turned and looked down at Celf.
	“Grur, what is happening? Rayearth said that something was eating away
at Cephiro!”
	He nodded and pointed up the wounded sky. “It started from up there. No
one knows what is happening. Hikaru, where are the other Magic Knights?”
	“I didn’t want to get them involved. Anyway, I was the only one called
this time. And-” She was cut short as a sudden light exploded above them
from one of the jagged holes. Hikaru screamed as it expanded and filled
her eyes and mind.
	“There, you see Tenchi? Nothing is going to go wrong at all.... Huh?!”
Washu paused as suddenly the controls before her began to spark and
smoke. A teardrop appeared on her head as she looked around.
	“Uhh, Miss Washu....” Mummered Tenchi, his eyes widening as Ryoko and
Ayeka both stopped fighting to watch as the sparking grew.
	“HIT THE DECK!!!” Shouted Washu and everyone leapt for cover as the
huge machine exploded, sending light and metal everywhere. When everyone
had the nerve to poke their heads up, they saw Washu standing before
what had once been her Space Time Converter. She appeared to be almost
crying. “It...took me....weeks to build this! And now..... it’ll take
months to repair it!!!!!” She probably would have gone on had it not
been for a scream from the main part of the house.
	“That,” shouted Tenchi. “was Miss Mihoshi! Now what’s happened!?” He
stood up and ran out, followed by Sasami, Ayeka, and Ryoko. Washu stood
staring at her once magnificent machine.
	Upon reaching Mihoshi in the living room everyone stopped and stared at
the disaster. The couches were overturned, the T.V. was on it’s side and
the picture was all static. Pictures were thrown everywhere, and it was
an overall mess. Mihoshi lay against a tipped over couch, another form
laying across her lap. She looked up and rubbed her head.
	“Owwww.... Oh Tenchi! It was so awful! First there was this really big
bang from Washu’s room, and then this big light appeared and everything
in the room began to fly about! I was really scared. Huh?” She paused as
she realized that someone was in her lap. She gulped and looked down.
The young man looked up at just the same moment. They stared at each
other for half a moment, and then he leapt up and almost to the other
side of the room. He was in white robes, his green eyes wide in shock
and confusion.
	“Wh.... What is going on?! Who are you!?” He shouted, pointing first to
Mihoshi, and then to Tenchi and the others. He stood and Tenchi realized
that he was taller than he, and older too by the look of it. Was he a
priest? Suddenly someone else groaned, and everyone turned to watch as a
black clad arm appeared from behind one of the upset couches. It gripped
the side and a figure rose up. All in black, he was far older than
anyone else in the room, and taller to boot.
	“Seishirou-san!” Shouted the boy in the robes.
	“Subaru-kun?” The older man shook his head and straightened his
glasses. Then he looked around, and promptly froze. Sasami broke the
silence.
	“You! And you!” She pointed at the two strangers. “I saw you both in my
dream! You were in my dream!” She ran forward and pulled on Seishirou’s
coat. He looked down and bent to her. “Who are you? Where are you from?”
	He smiled at her and patted her head. “I’m Seishirou Sakurazukamoir. I
live in Tokyo. Who are you, little one?”
	“I’m Sasami. Are you here to hurt us?”
	Seishirou straightened in surprise to the innocent inquiry and locked
gazes with Subaru. He looked around the room and noted silently that not
only did the little girl have strange markings on her forehead, but that
the girl with the grayish white hair had strange, non-human looking ears
and eyes. This was not normal. “Hurt you? Why would I want to do that?”
He looked down at her and smiled. “Would you just tell me where we are,
hum?”
	“This is...*was* my house.” Said Tenchi, walking forward to look at the
man. “We live outside of Tokyo. This is the Masaki Shrine.”
	“Tokyo?” Both strangers said, blinking in confusion. They glanced at
each other and then around them.
	“Umm, excuse me sir,” said Subaru, walking forward and brushing off his
clothes as he did. “but have you noticed anything odd about the Tokyo
area lately? Like explosions or strange reports?”
	“Explosions? Strange reports? No, everything was fine the last I heard.
Dad just called from his office, and he was headed home. Why?”
	Seishirou sighed and looked around. “That means that...”
	“We’re not anywhere near where we are supposed to be.” Finished Subaru,
looking outside and rubbing the back of his head. Tenchi was about to
ask what he meant when Washu suddenly appeared and walked up to the two
men.
	“Konnichiwa, I’m Washu.” She said and held out her hand. Seishirou
stared down at her and Subaru took her hand and shook it. Both watched
her curiously. “I think I can explain this. You,” she pointed to the
two, “are not from our time or dimension. It seems that when I activated
my latest experiment that I pulled you both into our time, in a sense
making you appear in a time and place where you should not even exist.”
She nodded and looked up triumphant. The two men watched, eyebrows
raised.
	“I guess she means that our fate hasn’t followed us here.” Mentioned
Seishirou as if it mattered as much to him as a paper cut or a missing
book. He smiled charmingly over at Subaru and then at Washu. “And now
that your little experiment has worked, would you mind sending us back?
I doubt that you could set up a kekkie here, Subaru, and if you want to
finish our little game now, we really should return.”
	“Wow!” Said Mihoshi. “He’s so cool and confident! He doesn’t seem
surprised at all!”
	“That’s not it.” snapped Subaru, startling everyone but Seishirou with
his harsh tone. “He doesn’t feel emotion like you or I. He’ll always be
an empty cold-blooded killer.”
	Just as questions began to arise, the glass door slid open and Tenchi’s
grandfather appeared with the look of a man with a propose. He coughed
and straightened his glasses.
	“Tenchi, we have some unexpected guests up at the shrine. I take it
they are here courtesy of Miss Washu, humm? He looked over at the two
strangers and bowed slightly. “Welcome to the Masaki Shrine. If I may
ask you to come with us back to the shrine please, there are a few
things I would like explained. Now.” Tenchi stared at his grandfather in
shock, he had almost never seen him this serious. Something was up all
right, and Sasami had known it was coming.
The Masaki Shrine
****************
	Tenchi slid open the door of his grandfather’s office and looked in.
Two high school boys were seated, traditionally, on the floor facing
each other. Their clothes were ripped and soiled, and two HUGE swords
lay by each of them. They were identical save for the color of the
handle bindings and a jewel in the hilt. The slimmer and more delicate
of the pair glanced up and then looked down again. Behind him Subaru
gasped and pushed his way in.
	“Kamui! You’re all right! What happened?”
	“Obviously the same as what happened to us, Subaru-kun.” Drawled
Seishirou as he walked in and over to Fuma who looked up at him and
frowned. “I do believe you’ll find that Fuma is no longer being
controlled by the Dark Kamui, seeing as our situations are now out of
that particular fate.” He turned and leaned against the wall next to
him. “All right,” he said removing his glasses and rubbing the side of
his head. “What do you need to know?”
	Hikaru moaned and slowly opened her eyes. What had happened? She looked
around and realized that she was being held in the huge palm of
Rayearth, but they were floating out in the middle of nowhere.
Everything was dark around her. She looked over and noticed that he was
holding something in his other hand.
	“Rayearth, what happened?”
	“My Knight, I don’t know... Something seems to have drawn you out of
Cephiro. I can’t tell what is happening, but I am glad you are awake, I
wasn’t sure if I could hold off the strange creatures that have been
attacking us.”
	“We’re being attacked? How? Rayearth, who else is here?!”
	“My Knight, you’re friends, Eagle Vision of Autozam and Lantis of
Cephiro are here. Come, my Knight, we must hurry before we are attacked
again.” Hikaru stood and shut her eyes as she leapt up to the huge
mecha.
	‘Why more fighting?’
