And Mr. Lawson, getting killfiled by me is not a compliment. Or
an accomplishment. Your writing in general offends me not because
of quality, but because of its consistent (IMHO) lack of respect
for source material and original characterization. You not only 
refuse to accept ground rules for characters and universes, you
seem to take aim at them with the singleminded purpose of 
countervening them.

Whose "ground rules" am I contravening?  Yours?  The manga artist's? 
Did they set "ground rules" for writing fanfics?

What makes fanfic writing great is that it takes the characters outside
of the universe established for them and puts them in differnt
situations.  Then we get to see how they respond.  I've seen Ranma as a
homicidal killer, Ranma as a genius, Ranma married to Shampoo, Kasumi,
Nabiki... just about everyone.  Including Ryoga.  I've seen Nabiki as a
cold-hearted witch, and Nabiki as a warm and loving person.  I've seen
Kasumi the axe-murderer, Kasumi the closet genius, Kasumi the air-headed
ditz.  I've seen Ranma meet Sailor Moon.  Ranma meet Batman.  Ranma meet
Tenchi.  Ranma meet... well, just about everyone.

And I've enjoyed *all* of those stories.

Limiting yourself to certain very narrow "rules" for fanfic writing
means that you miss out on a lot of excellent stuff.  If you cannot
overcome your own narrow perceptions of what you think a character
should be like, you will be unable to fully appreciate what the
character can do in different situations.  Or what the author can do
with the character.

That is, of course, your loss, not mine.

That is why I *cannot* respect your opinion.  You loudly state that
people should only write certain kind of fanfics, and put down other
authors when they don't conform to your "rules".  And yet, you cannot
live up to your own narrow standards.  You've written the type of story
you've killfiled other authors for writing.  

Such hypocrisy is not worthy of respect.
