Hello all.
I am a relative newbei to the list, but decided I could lurk no longer.
This is my answer to the one hour challenge...
This evil little idea popped into my head and wouldn't go away.
---------------------------------------------------
Psychosis
"Whew. It's finished. I'm free. Free at last from everything. Free
from all I've grown to love and hate."
The figure crouched in the darkness, slithering through the shadows
with graceful ease.
"They're all dead now. All those I hate. The pain is ended. My
sorrow cleansed. Freedom is mine."
The figure dropped to the ground, laying flat. "The police will find
me soon, I suppose. Unless I am possessed of even more luck." The
figure jumped and ran from the alley, sprinting across the dimly lit
street. A slim, feminine figure silhouetted against the night.
She slid quietly into another alley, without breaking stride. "Have to
escape. I won't spend my life in a cage."
Another furious burst of speed left her on a dock somewhere, staring
out at the dancing moonlight, reflecting calmly off the waves. She
paused for a second, enjoying the sight. Her own dangers forgotten in
that instant. "So peaceful. So calm. I've missed that feeling."
She found her way, quickly, to a large cargo ship and secreted herself
away amidst the crates. "So crazy, this whole thing. I can scarcely
believe I did it." She smiles for a second. "But it is done."
Her thoughts drift lightly over the past day's events. She remembers
it all...
The easiest by far were the pig and cat. After all, no one misses the
animals. No one thinks to search for lost pets, let alone their
murderers. When people look back on THAT dinner, they will certainly
find it memorable. I think they were actually happy that I wanted to
cook, since I saved them all from another of Akane's horrible disasters.
Kodachi merely met with an unfortunate end. Who would have ever
thought that so sturdy a greenhouse would collapse like that? Heh heh.
Akane, however, required a more personal touch. It will take me some
time to get that coppery smell out of these clothes. Though the memory
of that slippery warmth over my hands will keep me smiling for far, far
longer.
The last one though was Genma Saotome. He more than any other deserved
what he received. I wish I could kill him again and again for what he
did to me. For what he put me through, he will burn forever.
Now, though, I have more pressing concerns. I have some time, because
no one ever suspected that I could do it. They all thought me foolish
and weak-minded. I suspect that my martial arts makes up for all that.
My getaway will be complicated though. I have to give them the slip.
However, I doubt anyone will be able to follow me. I'll throw enough
gender swaps in to destroy any trail I may have left. When I'm through
running, they won't know who they're really after. Boy or girl. It
makes no difference to me anymore...
I almost feel giddy. I haven't really been happy since I was little.
Since before all the training. Before that fateful day.
I'm going to need a new spatula. Shame to lose my old one.
Now, I wonder if they'll like okonomiyaki in America. After all, I was
pretty good in my English classes....
Hmm... I wonder if Ranma's enjoying the freedom as much as I am. He's
finally rid of all of his problems. I wish I could have brought him
with me, but I don't think he'd really understand. I HAD to do it. HAD
TO. HAD TO!!!!
-----------------------------------------
Like I said, this sick little idea popped into my head while I was
reading some of the other stories and wouldn't go away.
As for time, I finished in a half-hour even.
C&C, flames, death threats, and other forms of human contact will be
cheerfully accepted. Or, ignore me. Whatever. :)
