Hanachiyo is the cat that exposed Ranma's fear of cats to everyone...
Including Gosunkugi, who was sent by Kuno in order to discover Ranma's weakness.

If this is a name that is somehow connected to Shampoo, then I'm wrong,
but I've never heard her called that before.

Don't worry, it's not Shampoo.
