Sure, but I meant that the reference would have been better if it
was more subtle, i.e. if you kept calling him "the Zen Monk",
leaving it to the reader to figure it out.

IMHO, I don't think it makes much difference.  The reference wouldn't 
be particularly subtle anyways.

But...  if all the characters that deserved to slam various fanfic 
writers into LEO actually did, the result would be a total eclipse of 
the sun over much of the earth's surface. :>
