Upon his slumber intruded a being of pure light, only Sol bringer of
light, giver of fire, that one which would light our lonely way, would
dare to intrude into the slumber of the noble heir to the great house of
Kun...ARG!!!!
"Good morning Master Kuno."
"Sasuke! Who told you to open those curtains you dim witted fool!"
"You did. Last night. You said I was to wake you early so that your
could clean your room today."
"Ah yes, so it is..." Clean his room? Why would he be cleaning his
room? That is what servants were for! Sasuke was trying to escape his
days chores, well that was not to be, "And why, pray tell, would the
noble heir to the house of Kuno clean his room? Is it not the
responsibility of his servants to make his abode livable and
comfortable? Would it not seem as if those..."
"I have no idea. Your room is clean. Personally I think it is because
you were going to get rid of the posters of your pig tailed love and
Akane Tendo. I just figured you didn't want me to find the half naked
pictures of the pig tailed girl under your bed."
"Oh yeah. What?! What were you doing under my bed wretch!!!"
"Urk! I...I have to go clean Mistress Kodachi's laboratory, please
don't kill me. You know how she hates to be kept waiting."
"Right! From now on stay out from under my bed."
"But master Kuno, how am I to keep the dust bunnies out form under
there if I don't clean it?"
"Sasuke."
"Yes, Master Kuno?"
"Meet me in the court yard at noon. I wish to practice with my bokken
at that time."
"Yes, Master Kuno."
Where had he been...let see, something about the light breaking over
his noble features like golden waves upon a most exquisite shore line?
No, no, something a bit more lofty perhaps...it was gone now. Tatewaki
went to the window and looked out at the grounds. The early morning sun
basked the whole scene in a warm benevolent glow. This was a sight for
the gods alone. No mortal was meant to see a sight this perfect, this
beautiful. Ah, Nabiki Tendo...that you could be here to stand at my side
and witness this ethereal beauty. What would you say to such a wonderland
of celestial majesty?
A little voice in the back of his head spoke up...<um, probably
something like, "Tatewaki, why are your walls covered with pictures of my
sister and the pig tailed girl?">
Oh yeah. That was why he was going to clean his room. Nabiki would
never forgive him if she saw all the posters and pictures, even if she
had sold them to him. He supposed he would have to take down the
tapestry of him slaying Saotome while Akane and the pig-tailed girl
looked on. A shame, that was really good work. He would have to
commission the woman who did it to make another. One of him
conquering...hmmm, he was the only person interested in Nabiki...perhaps
one of him dueling with himself. Nabiki might find that appropriate.
The alter had to go for sure, it was just taking up space anyway. It
seemed a shame to let those candles go to waste. It had been hard to
find a place to custom make candles in the shape of Akane and the
pig-tailed girl. Perhaps Nabiki would not mind auctioning those off for
him. The would certainly sell well at school...then again he could
present them to Akane and the pig-tailed girl as parting gifts. They
would...
<Probably beat the hell out of you.>
probably beat the...probably take it badly. The auction idea
was better. Nabiki would not mind him ridding himself of these tokens of
his affection would she? He waited a second. No little voice. Yes,
surely Nabiki Tendo could not see any wrong in...
<She might wonder what kind of twistoid actually HAD this kind of stuff.>
...then again he could
just put them in the basement and forget about them. What to do with the
pictures...Ah yes, Mike Loader was looking for pictures of Akane for a sequel
he was writing. He could just throw in the pig-tailed girl's pictures for
free...
<Yeah, maybe he's writing a lemon.>
...everyone's a critic.
-------------
"Master Kuno?"
"Yes, Sasuke?"
"May I ask you a question?"
"You have intoned two thus far, I see no reason to still thy tongue in
that direction. What would you know of me, my servant?"
"Is there anything bothering you master?"
"In what way do you intend this question? Do my features portray a
picture of upset? Have I made clear some ill that tarnishes my soul? In
what way do you inquire as to what might bother me?"
"Well...I had noticed that the target you are constructing seems ..
...well, somewhat familiar."
It did bare a striking resemblance to himself. Yes, in fact there was
considerable inner turmoil that might have directed his hands in the
making of this practice dummy. Perhaps that very phrase was enough to
explain his choice of motif.
"Dear Sasuke, your concern for my mental state is touching. Perhaps
this choice of subject reflects my need to physically confront my
personal demons. Yet I should warn you not to interfere. My reasons are
my own and not subject for your inquiries. Hand me some more straw."
"Yes, Master Kuno. May I ask another question?"
"If you are able to leave the topic of my state of mind, then yes you
may."
"Why is the target looking away?"
"That is, perhaps, the crux of why I have chosen this subject. But
fear not, I understand your fear for my honor. Be assured that this is
not a blight on that honor. There is not dishonor in destroying those
attributes you may find dishonorable in your soul. This is mearly a
representation of that which I wish to cleanse from my person."
"Couldn't you just take a cold shower?"
"Sasuke."
"Yes, Master Kuno?"
"Have you boxed up those pictures?"
"Yes, Master."
"And mailed them?"
"Yes, Master."
"And the Tapestry?"
"In the cellar with the last of the candles."
"And the alter?"
"I sent it to the rock quarry as you ordered, Master."
"Very good."
"It seemed a waste. The bas relief work was excellent."
"Indeed, alas it is a reminder of a time now passed. You have done
well, Sasuke. As a reward I will not destroy you for your impertinence.
Now let us take ourselves to the field to practice."
"Yes, Master Kuno."
