According to R. Talsorian's BGC role-playing game, USSD stands for United
(Nations) Space Security Defense (Force); the parenthesized words aren't
in the acronym.

	What's Kate Madigan's background?

Kate Madigan is Genom's executive officer in charge of information; she's
involved in many of Genom's international conspiracies, and is responsible
for espionage and counter-espionage operations (such as plugging the leak
represented by Anri, aka 'Milly Jackson'). By the time of BGC 6, she has
risen into Quincy's favor and occupies the informal role that was played
by the late Brian J. Mason as Quincy's assistant.
	Information on how she rose through the Genom hierarchy is
virtually non-existent except for fan theories . . . and it's a question
I've had to deal with myself for a writing project I'm working on.

	How did AD Police start? Is AD Police pure police agency? A
department of Mega-Toyko Police Department or separate like Highway
Patrol?

After the Second Great Kanto Earthquake (which reduced most of Tokyo to
rubble), an advanced police force was needed for such duties as riot
control and containment of rogue Boomers. Genom and the other corporations
provided the funding for the establishment of a new police force, the AD
Police. The normal police are still extant in Tokyo (and the rest of
Japan, presumably) and handle non-ADP crimes, traffic (the Tokyo Highway
Patrol is part of the normal police), etc.
