Notes: OK, here*s scene 2 of act I. I have to confess I*m not all that happy with it, plus its shorter than I originally intended. Any suggestions on how I could improve this scene (short of *Ditch it, a**hole!*) will be much appreciated. I think I may be looking forward to the next scene... I also hope the fonts work out ok. Last time, for some reason (though it was on the Temp FFML), the font was sort of screwy...

Also, for those of you who are interested in this, I apologize for the delay, but I have been swamped lately. It may be a little while before Scene 3 comes out (especially if I don't finish it before July, when I'm leaving the country for a couple weeks on business).

Kuno*s Narrative: Act I, Scene 2: The Tendo Dojo

Enter Nabiki, followed by Soun, Genma, Nodoka, Kasumi, and Tofu

NABIKI
So are we in agreement, everyone?
That I and Ranma shall henceforth be the heads
Of Tendo Dojo and this household? For we
Have married per our father*s covenant,
And rightfully are owners and masters of
Our inheritance. What say you, father?

SOUN
You have my leave, Nabiki, for this is what
Both I and Saotome have striven for.
Though still much grieved over my youngest daughter*s
Death, I still must weep for joy at this
Most long-awaited day. You have my blessings.

NABIKI
So well this pleases us. With my storied
Business acumen, and with Ranma*s help,
We shall see the dojo realize
A greater glory than it has ever known.

SOUN
I pray it will be so.

NABIKI
		My sister, Kasumi
Let me be the first congratulator
For your newly forged engagement. We
All wish, I*m sure, the best for you and Tofu.

KASUMI
We shall be married on the morrow, sister,
And so shall take my leave. But I do beg
Your pardon, sister, for I shall not be here
To cook or clean for you.

NABIKI
			Kasumi, think
Not on it. We shall manage well, for Ranma
Can cook indifferent well, and he can clean
When he is off from training students. Do
Not let concern for our well-being distract
You from your well-earned happiness, all right?

KASUMI
Thank you, Nabiki. I shall be off. Farewell.

Exit Kasumi and Tofu

NABIKI
And now, my mother, if I may call you thus,
You intimated earlier that you
Had plans to leave?

NODOKA
We do. We would not be
A burden on your and Ranma*s mutual joy.
This home is yours, we have our own, and do
Not wish to stand between you and our son.

NABIKI
Nevertheless, you both are welcome to stay.
Think not that you could be a burden here,
For joys increase in family*s company,
And Ranma, I am sure, would want you here
To reacquaint himself with his long-parted
Mother.

NODOKA
I thank you, but this cannot be.
Besides, we must make room for progeny.
The blessed fruits of marriage and the dojo*s
Future heirs shall make concerns enough
But such as is no greater joy than you
Could grasp the scope of.

NABIKI
			As you wish. Remember,
This house will always welcome you. Now, Ranma...
Ranma? Where is Ranma?

NODOKA
			I don*t know.
I thought him right behind us, but evidently
This is not the case. I*ll go get him.

NABIKI
No, I*ll to him. It is the duty of
A wife to tend upon her man. I know
How he still grieves on Akane, but now
We both must plan our happiness together.
Besides, I think I know his whereabouts.
And so I take my leave. Exit Nabiki

NODOKA
And you and I must also plot to see
A pleasant end to this. An heir must be
Produced.
