I'm sorry for this spam, but I have to say this, because of the 
number of RIDICULOUS test messages I've seen lately.

Folks, White Wolf tells you this, Tybalt tells you this, and now the 
Eternal Lost Lurker is going to tell you this:

   You sit down at your computer, log into your ISP, check your mail.

   You have four personal messages...and nothing from the FFML.

   OH NO! Something's wrong with the list! There's NO MAIL from FFML 
and it's been....4 hours since I last checked it! I think I need to 
send a test message!!

   This may be a slight exaggeration, but for the most part it's 
what's going on around here.

   Folks...listen up for a sec.

   ISP mail clients operate at different rates, and have different 
ways of doing things.

   Some clients will immediately shoot a message into the box of the 
recipient without sending it through a pile of post crap.
   Some of them need to hold it for about four hours.
   Sometimes a message sent doesn't even GET where it's going for 
hours.
   This is just how the Internet works.

   Also, servers invariably crash. It's inevitable. They get problems,
 they have to take a nap until the admins can find out what's wrong 
and fix it.

   This is what I'm trying to get across:


    If you don't get mail from FFML for 12 houts, DON'T WORRY ABOUT 
IT. Go on with your life, and come back later.

   If the delay stretches to 24 hours, there MAY be something wrong 
with the list--it's probably overloaded and having to leak the new 
mail slowly.

   If this occurs--DON'T POST A TEST MESSAGE TO THE FREAKING LIST!! 
All you're doing is ADDING TO THE PROBLEM!

   If you MUST post a test message, find a buddy on the list, and 
send it directly to them, ask "Say, is the list down?"

   Or, if it stays down for a long time, e-mail WhiteWolf or Tybalt 
and ask what's wrong.

   If you don't get an answer, you know the server went down, and 
don't post a test message because you're generating trouble for the 
list.

   People, please, use common sense when wondering what's going on 
with the FFML.

   Sorry for the spam.
