OK, here we go with another installment. It's been a bit, but work is
driving me nuts and I have had writer's block to the Nth power, so i
have been practicing relaxation techniques. As it sits now, I an stuck
on both my Xena/Ranma xover and my Wolves in the Dojo stories. However,
I am ready for some C&Cing!

First on the Agenda, Fate lends a Hand by Kawaii
(Kawaiix@hotmail.com). An interesting tale of a goddess, Akane,
emotions, death, life, and, well, just stuff. Of course, I personally
thought this fic could use a real rewrite and padding, as there just
wasn't enough character development for those that needed it. There
were also some other plot points throuwn in that could be expanded
upon. All in all, I say, read this one if you have the time, but wait
for a rewrite if you're busy.

Next, based on a post here and faint memories, I dredged up 'The Four
Birds of Fire' and 'the Caller's Plight.' Sorry, but I can't, at this
moment, remember who wrote them. This series is a biggie. The author
writes some LLOONNGG parts. If you haven't played, I think, Final
Fantasy 3, don't read it as you will be lost when it comes to a few of
the characters. Actually, about half the characters. I played the
game, and it took me a couple to remember everyone. :) However, if you
have the time to sit down and read a long story and have the video game
background to understand, I highly recomment the Four Birds of Fire. I
actually have, as yet, to finish 'The Caller's Plight' because, well,
the author totally confused the heck outta me with the flashbacks,
history changes and stuff. it's taking me a while to get through it,
and that is a bad sign. I think the first chapter needs some work to
get the transitions to flow better. As it sits, the reader can get
confused far to fast, causing a loss of interest. Maybe more when I
actually finish reading it!

Next, 'Unlikely Hero' by Coutuva@vecdev.com This one is an original
fanfic. My very first recommendation is to like copyright it, if it is
truly an original. Secondly, The first two parts, that I have read, are
slightly confusing. There are time jumps in both, but only the second
part, I think, actually gives a date when the parts take place. For
now, however, this story has taken a good turn. I only hope that the
author can keep it up. Writing can be hard, as we all know. :)

Next, 'Kasumi's Little Secret' by Ajwoo@ucdavis.edu This story is a
good one to read, but the parts are too short to get a feel for it so
far. This is actually just a 'Keep it Up' note, as I know all authors
need that once in a while.

And Lastly on the list, 'Spring Showers' by CBear
(Cleng@mnl.sequel.net). First Fanfic, huh? Seen a few of those
lately. I will take your word for it tho. Now, onto the part that
everyone hates. The C&C! Ok, in all actuality, this story is a good
one, although Ranma and Akane are slightly OOC, what with the thinking
and all. This is not a bad thing, tho. You managed to capture a lot of
the emotion, and that is the mark of a good author. Keep up the good
work!

And now, my parting notes. Let's see. I have noticed that there has
been an increase in hate/(f)lame mail in the last coupla days. It
almost seems that there are people out there pushing the envelope (pun
intended) of the new semi moderation. Me personally, I ain't gonna push
it. I like the FFML. I don't wanna be banned. :) However, this is
rapidly becoming a problem. I hope that the ones writing the (f)lame
mail will finally realise that it is pointless to push it and get back
to the good old FFML that I know and love. Well, that;s it for me.
Laundry calls, and work is early, so Happy trails, you little buckaroos!
