Subject: [Info/poll] I need some opinions...

I have currently reached a strange junction in the process of
creating Faux Existence. (Note: this does not mean I'm stuck. Far
from it--I know EXACTLY what's going to happen, when, where, how, AND
why. Don't worry about that, this thing is going to be finished SOON.
)

But, I have a slightly unusual situation.

As readers know, as of the end of part one, I have not revealed any
of the past events leading up to Faux Existence.

I have come to a point I never thought POSSIBLE in fanfic writing.

As it stands at the moment, Faux Existence can continue forth in two
different structure formats.

The first, is to continue on with the fanfic as it is currently
flowing. In this event, the backstory would be revealed through
multiple flashbacks, in chunks, scattered all over the place.

The second option almost seems more favorable to me. This option is
to write the backstory as a SEPARATE fanfic, a prequel to Faux
Existence, in which the entire backstory would be laid out in one
fell swoop, and pick up just prior to Faux Existence.

Here are the potential benefits and problems I see with each form:

Flashbacks: Keeps up the suspense level, works great as a narrative
device, but could potentially get incredibly confusing.

Prequel: This would allow for more scenes to be added than would
appear in flashback format, possibly expanding the backstory to
triple its current intended size. However, it would kill the suspense
element of Faux Existence.

I'd like input from the readers before I go with either format. Let
me know what you think I should do. Thanks in advance.
