Actually Akane started her series with her sights on exactly the right

guy, but her oldest sister got dibs on the doctor.



The characters in UY are generally stronger (pun intended) than those in

R1/2, and Shinobu is Rumiko's hottest babe by a clear margin over

Akane. (The ensemble effect in UY is much less forced)



For example, 90% of the difference between Ataru and Ranma is honesty,

and we know how important that is.  (Is anybody else suspicious of the

way Ranma came on to Ukyou to get her hooked back on him when she showed

back up?)



The biggest bummer is the lack of a Blue in UY. (R1/2 has two in Ukyou

and Nabiki and even Sailor Mercury is stronger in this type than the

Diving Sorceress, Crow Queen or the fast-food crossdresser from UY,

though the twisted thespian does come close (But we don't see enough of

her!)).



Nobody pointed out earlier that I mapped the characters wrong between UY

and R1/2.  Lum's best counterpart is Akane.  (Why does Lum zap?  Why

does Akane pummel?  Both have a pet that's an overlooked rival (P-chan,

Ten).  Both Ranma and Ataru are deathly afraid of losing their

freedoms. (Note that it's Ataru's responsible side that holds Lum off,

but that Ranma was willing to "sacrifice" himself to Akane under the

eternal love pill))
