Kou-u-yoku, the Radiant Hawk Wings, are in my opinion the coolest

things ever used in anime. If anyone knows of anything cooler, please

I've never seen Tenchi before, but the coolest thing I ever saw in anime was Belldandy's reconstruction of the old temple home in AMG OAV 1. The choreography was perfect, music, motion, everything in sync. It was the one time I've seen magic use constructively and potrayed so splendidly. In most anime there's this spectaular light show that results in the destruction of the villian, but here's Belldandy weaving a ball of light to repair a broken home. It was wonderful.
