I'm getting ready to post a fanfic on my web page, I've 

got the 'fic 

HTML'd already, but I want to give the option of 

downloading a plain 

version of it in case they want to read it later. What's 

the best 

format for this? ASCII, .TXT, etc? I'm using a PC 

(Windows 3.11), but 

I want to make it a format readable by anyone.

Also, I want to include an archived version of the whole 

thing. Which 

is more universal, PKZIP or GZip? Or something else?

Rick here:
  Text (*.txt) is the most universal type of format other 
than binary every machine and almost all programs can use 
it -granted many translate it to something else for use- 
Word perfect is an example of this.
 While .gz is the seen very frequently I think .zip is 
better with the windows and o/s and mac o/s so that is what 
I would recomend. Anybody disagree with me.? Certainly a 
decoder for zip is easier to find for the above operating 
systems although winzip will do both.
