I usually start by getting an idea.  Some times I get the idea by 
watching a TV show and thinking what would happen if an Anime 
character were in that same situation.  Some times I listen to music 
and a scene forms in my mind and I develop it from there.  Some times 
I get dreams and use them.

I have a lot of false starts but I never post anything that I don't 
have an ending for.  I usually have the ending I'm trying to reach 
for before I have the begining.
