Part of the reason the original poster suggsted population control was that the
list was getting too big for him to handle.  
Isn't it ironic how posting that suggestion, which btw, happns to be one of the
offtopic posts he's so annoyed with, has only served to exaccerbate rather than
solve the problem?

Not so.  I didn't say anything about off-topic posting.  I said, and 
meant, that the On-TOPIC posting was getting too much for me to 
handle.  :-/
