Wait a sec Gary, are we saying that the only three catagories for posts
are Fics, C&C and SPAM? What about Idea threads? What about writer's
hints and disscussions? What about questions on series that one might
not have enough info on? What about teasers? Are these ALL spam?
For purposes of my little statistical experiment, I'm calling them spam.
If you want to do a finer analysis where what I called spam is broken
down into smaller categories, be my guest; I'll be interested to see the
results.
Note that I'm NOT in ANY way saying that the above things are useless or
should not be on the list. They are ALL worthy things; but IMO none of
these is as important as the one main thing we are here for, discussion
of particular fics. I'm not saying that people shouldn't spam. All I'm
saying is that IMO we should have LESS spam and MORE C&C.

The problem with your survey is that it does not count C&C that is
e-mailed directly to the author. I suspect that I am not alone in favoring
this approach over public C&C.
I'm sure you are not. However, there is no archive for privately
E-mailed C&C and hence no way for me to count it.

BUT I PROPOSE a simple helpful tactic to kill all spam from a previous
week by the coming SUNDAY. That's a pretty painless emmission control
don't you think?
That would depend on people being willing to follow this policy. And as
I say, I don't want to kill spam, I just think the amount should be cut
down in favor of C&C.
