This is true in the canonical UY series. The story I wrote was a very,
very non-canonical way of looking at things. In the bizarre
interpretation of things that this story used, Ataru is a cosmic force
only in his own mind; in reality (the reality of this story) he is an
ordinary person.

C: Lum makes the most headway with Ataru when she acts like an ordinary
Earth girl, but she isn't willing to go as far as Ran does.
You have a point here. I doubt, though, that an ordinary Earth lifetime
of changing diapers and doing all sorts of other mundane things would
appeal to Ataru in the long term -- if the long term means anything to
him at all, which is questionable.

Please don't take this story in a way that it's not intended. It was an
idea that occurred to me and wouldn't go away; I felt there was
something to say in this story, though I'm still not sure what. I like
UY, and I'm definitely not suggesting that this should replace standard
UY continuity, or even that it's a possible explanation for everything
in that continuity. It's simply a different way of looking at things,
perhaps a flawed one; but I think looking at things in different ways is
a valuable exercise nevertheless.

Anyone see where I'm coming from here?
