Good lord, so how DOES that guy consume Zingers and Jolt anyway?

Osmosis. ^_^

This sounds really cool actually. Just two things. First, I'd lean more
toward the tone of Gunnm than Ranma for this piece (I just can't see Ranma
slapstick in Gally's world.)

BELIEVE me, I understand. Put it to you this way, Ryouga MIGHT be using
Jisatsu Bakuha's and Youkouro. If you don't know what those are then
shame on you for not reading my posts and fics ;)

<Hangs head> Actually, I've read one fic in the last couple of months or
so, and that one only because it grabbed me so that I made time to read it.
<Raises head with hopeful look> But I've got every fic I ever received on
the FFML saved! I'll read them all eventually...

I *do* know what you're talking about though. ^_^

Second, be careful with Gunnm's continuity.
Ranma's continuity can be laughed at in general, but Gunnm's continuity is
slightly more compact, and the Gally that Ryouga encounters pretty much
depends on *when* Ryouga meets her. (And #3 gets affected by Ryouga's place
in the Gunnm timeline as well.)

My current idea is for a little after Tears Sign. Gally is in most need
of a "friend" at that time and I think the best storyline can be done.
Plus I think the life of a Hunter Warrior would be PERFECT for Ryouga so
I can spice up the angst with a little defenstration ;)

OK. I thought that since you mentioned Nova, you were going to set it later
in the manga continuity. In between the death of Hugo and Motorball is a
good setting, as long as Nova pretty much gets used as a plot device to
start the ball rolling. (His continued involvement would get tricky real
quick if you try to keep it in line with the later manga.)

Other than that, what are you waiting for? This sounds great! So write it
already! (And don't resist the urge to cyber up Ryouga eight ways to Sunday
either! The power of a cybered Ryouga would be incredible!)

How does nanites from Desty Nova strike you.

Hopefully they don't. I like myself the way I am right now, thanks. ^_^

There, you've just given a
guy who can withstand mountain crumbling blows nearly the immortatlity
of Yakumo (not perfect, shock and loss of blood can still kill you) Now
just think how usefull those Jisatsu techniques are when your constantly
regenerating...NASTY! ;)

<yellow> Oh Yeah..... </yellow>

Of course, this is Gunnm we're talking about here. Implants are definitely
too low-tech. Nanites are the way to go. (Besides, you're right, a full
body conversion just wouldn't be Ryouga. If I want to see FBCs kill things,
I'll go play Cyberpunk.)

Other things people have mentioned that I wanted to comment about :

How are you going to handle the curse? Would you want him "cured" (either
before he's cryogenically sealed or after he's awakened, using Nova's
nanites as the cure) or is he still going to have it? That might be awkward
in a darker-toned story. And while we're on the subject of Ryouga's flaws,
what about his direction sense? You could get rid of it, with a fix from
Nova (man, isn't he a great plot device?) or some sort of neurological
implant (though I'd be hard pressed to come up with exactly what said
implant would be), or you could just tone it down for the story (like it
was ever really consistent to begin with.)

Eimii mentioned Ryouga's Bakusai Tenketsu technique. To heck with what
Figure Four has, that's a cyborg killer right there. (Unless you want to
wax philosophical about humanity and such.) His techniques, combined with
what Figure Four has, and nanites to top it off, make a depressed,
nigh-invulnerable killing machine. I can see why you like this story. ^_^

Anyway, I've got most of the posts on this subject saved, so if you feel
overwhelmed by your current load I'd be more than happy to take this story
over for you. ^_^ I'm not sure I could get Ryouga the way down the way you
can (you two are...connected) but I'd certainly give it a whirl!
