It seems to me that it would be a win win situation.  For those who 

like

the ffml the way it is now, it would remain essentially unchanged.  

For

those who want to cut down on the volumn, they could customize 

their

subscriptions accordingly.

It would NOT be a "win-win" situation. It would make things 
infinitely more complicated than need be and would be a general 
ANNOYANCE all around. People would get upset because they couldn't 
find certain 'fics by certain authors on the list for not knowing 
where they are, rampant crossposting would ensue regardless, SPAM 
would increase drastically, and people would go nuts trying to keep 
up with the headers for so many MLs....which would probably be 
subscribed by nearly everyone on FFML...meaning about five times as 
much volume in mail....
