I thought I should weigh in at least once.  Our club has two mailing 
lists, one for on-topic discussions about the club, and another for 
spam, no rules.  It's worked well.

I do have to agree that the list is too big.  What are we at now, 180 
messages a day?  It's especially a pain for me, because I don't have 
the time (or the desire) to do the Internet every day of the week.  
Today there were 328 messages waiting for me from the list.  
Splitting off the spam would help me a lot.  And I've met writers who 
won't join the list because they don't want to deal with the load.

HOWEVER, I think such a split would be hell for White Wolf, because 
it would encourage spam when he's been trying so hard to discourage 
it.  In short, the load on his system would go up.

Really, what SHOULD be done is this: the folks who love FFML-spam 
should start their own darn list and leave the FFML for the writers 
and critiquers.  It would solve the problem and free Wolf from having 
to look like a big meany every time he cracks down on spam again.
