<groans> Kusottare...now we have two bakara doing this.....

Please read my post. I said I wasn't convinced that this was a good
idea. Or even if it could or should be done. I did think it was worth
discusing, though.

Perhaps I should have just contributed to the 'Who I want to have
sex with,' thread? (Misato. H_H Have to make sure to stay on her
bad side, though. She only seems to point that pistol of hers at
people she cares about.)

It would NOT be a "win-win" situation. It would make things
infinitely more complicated than need be and would be a general
ANNOYANCE all around. People would get upset because they couldn't
find certain 'fics by certain authors on the list for not knowing
where they are,

I fail to see how this would be difficult. Remember, I am talking
about a split based on content, not a splinter into a bunch of mini-
FFML's. If your looking for a Ranma fic, it would be on the Ranam
fic mailing list. SM, the SM fic ML. Anything else would be in
the MISC fic ML. Give people a little credit, I think they would be
able to tell which catagory a fic fell in. (Except, as I have said
in previous posts, for crossovers. I'm sure that could be worked
out, though.)

rampant crossposting would ensue regardless, SPAM

What would be the reason to crosspost in a content based split?

would increase drastically, and people would go nuts trying to keep
up with the headers for so many MLs....which would probably be
subscribed by nearly everyone on FFML...meaning about five times as
much volume in mail....

The only reason I could see people confusing which list a post is from
is fron the discussion and spam ML's. Spam is going to pop up on the
discussion list, and discussion is going to pop up on the spam list.

However, by giving people a place to vent their spam, the overall level
of spam on the discussion list would drop. And those who do not want
to bother with spam would not have to put up with as much of it.

Look, I *know* that this idea isn't going to fly. And I don't
have a prob w/ that. I just can not see how this would be the
horrible idea everone is making it out to be.

Here is a scenario; Please point to where it breaks down. I'm
sure it does somewhere.

1. Author sends a Ranma story to the ranma fic ML.
2. c&c comments are sent to the disccusion group.
3. Comments about the comments are sent to the discussion group.
4. The thread degenerates into spam, and is slowly moved over to
    the spam ML.

It looks so nice and orderly. That must be why it is doomed to
fail. We are talking about the net, after all. ;)

It really makes no difference to me. I would be one of the poeple
subscribed all five lists anyway. However, it would benefit a lot
of other people, and I still can not see how it would inconvineince
me, or anyone else on all five lists.
