In short, yes the FFML is a bit large.  Yes there is too much mail for a
lot of people to keep up with.  Yes splitting the list would be good.

Please remember that this is the Anime Fanfic list.  Yes, it does
predominate towards Ranma but its more than that.  What would be 'ideal'
(based on previous list-splitting experiences) would be... (names not
final):

fic@fanfic.com - For posting of fics only.  Any type of fics.  But not
                 comments, spam and whatnot.  (Except perhaps Prof's W&F
                 reviews which are fics in themselves ;) )

anything more than 3 becomes unweildy.  A non-technical list with more
than 500 subscribers becomes unweildy.  Any thread with more than 10
followups becomes unweildy.
