D-Man, I understand what you're after, and your point about the loosening
"social vibe" here is well taken, but what if someone posts a story on one
of the other lists that I might be interested in? How will I know it was
posted?
The only way I can see splitting the list is either by Anime Series (which
IMHO would be the least of all "evils"), or to have one list for
discussion/spam and another for fanfics only, which probably wouldn't
reduce the traffic in the end. I also agree with those folks who have
raised concerns about cross-posting. I think authors will end up
cross-posting anyway to reach the largest audience. This goes back to my
first question; what if there is someone on another list who might like to
read a new story that I have written? They would miss out on the fic and I
would miss out on the C&C.
Lastly, someone recently posted a list of the authors they would like to
see on the list they'd be subbed to, and I felt a twinge of hurt for all
the authors who weren't on that persons's list; for a moment I think I saw
what the New FFMLs would be like, and as much as I miss the types of
threads and closeness we all felt in the "golden past" as someone dubbed
it, we're all here for three things, and the banter/spam (you know I have a
passion for certain flavours of it too<g>) is third on that list.
