Has the youth in question heard of Kimba the White lion? Or
Marine Boy? ^(^

Well _I_ have. I've also sat through the entire Queen Millenium AFTER
Wings Of Honnainiase and Naussica (what WAS the programer thinking) When
a few of the sleepier fans (it was 4AM) made some cracks to stay awake,
the Old-School rep blasted everyone telling us if we didn't like it we
could leave. I stayed as I found the story interesting (except the bogus
catapults versus spacecraft scene) That he had such respect for the film
didn't bother me in the slightest. That he was the LOUDEST wisecraker
during the Tenchi showing disturbed the hell out of me!
What annoys me are CERTAIN older fans, the ones I try and look up to in
respect for their years of expierence, who pat me on my head and send me
off to watch Ranma or Tenchi with a cookie (not that I mind TOO much, I
could do with a nice cookie right about now) I've been an Anime fan for
over ten years. I've made it a point to watch and find the glory in the
shows whitch precede and help shape the shows I'm watching now.
I'm an enigma of an Anime fan, I enjoy Leji Matsumuto as much as Rumiko
Takahashi (though I probably misspelled both) I enjoy subbed as well as
dubbed. Some Anime/Manga sucks and there's nothing that can be done
about it, but I refuse to let a series pass me by without at least
giving it a fair shot!
Sorry to use this post for a soapbox but I just remembered an incident
at AWA where an Old-Schooler looked at me with disgust. He asked what
was with the Goth outfit (I SWEAR these are my regular clothes, I have
worn them LONG before Vampire came out to stir up Goth fantasicm) I
sighed, resisted the urge to put the guy through a window (something I
used to do before I discovered the joys of Otakuism) and told him I was
dressed up as a CLAMP character.
Yeah, I have a gripe about the younger (what's with this Harlock crap)
generation as well but that's for another post ;)
