				Ranma 1/2 : Betrayals

(Authors Note: This is *NOT* supposed to be a zany fanfic. It is meant to be
serious and heartbreaking. if you dont like serious Ranma stories then dont
read this story. For info about the title, see the authors notes at the end. )

(Another Note: This fanfic WILL contain harsh language and scenes that might
be offensive to some readers, namely violence and scenes of intense death and
emotion.)
					Part One

Akane sighed as she stared out the window, watching the snow fall to the
ground. It was a cold winter day, and Ranma had been gone for almost a year and
a half. Hed left without notice one day, before even Kasumi awoke, taking only
the clothes he was wearing. Hed left a note on the table, saying that he was
leaving and did not know when he would return. Nothing had been the same since
that day. The house had seemed empty, and Akane couldnt understand why.
"Would you like some tea, Akane?" Kasumis voice broke through Akanes reverie.
"Yes, thank you, Kasumi," Akane said.
Akane took a sip of tea and turned to the rest of the room.
Soun and Genma were playing shogi in their favorite spot, totally oblivious to
the rest of the world. Nabiki was nowhere in sight.
Akane turned back to the window and gasped. There was a figure walking in the
snow, heading towards the Tendo home. As the figure came closer, Akane could
suddenly tell that, somehow, it was Ranma!
She rushed to the door and yanked it open, letting snow and cold wind blow into
the house. She poked her head out the door and watched the figure grow closer.
It was indeed Ranma, but he looked different now. He wore only a pair of baggy
silken pants, bunched at the ankle, the snow melting off of his bare chest. But
there was something about his eyes. They were harder, colder somehow. Akane
shuddered at what she saw.
	"Ranma!" she cried.
He turned to her, and smiled, but the smile never touched his eyes.
"Akane, its good to see you again. You look well. Tell me, how is your dear
sister Kasumi? And how is Nabiki?"
"They are fine... Where have you been all this time?" Akane let him into the
house, closing the door behind him.
"Akane, who is it? Who are you talking to?" Souns voice echoed from the other
room.
	"Daddy, Ranmas back!"
"Ranma? This is wonderful! My daughter will finally be married and I will
finally have a grandson!" Soun rushed into the room, his eyes streaming with
tears.
Ranma stepped towards Akane, smiling slowly.
"Akane-chan... you dont know how much Ive missed you..."
Ranma stepped up to Akane and wrapped his arms around her, holding her tight.
He lowered his head towards her and planted a kiss upon her lips. She struggled
briefly and then stopped, wrapping her arms around his neck.
Soun and Genma stood, their jaws drooping, then jumped into the air, shouting
for joy. Nabiki walked in, disturbed by the racket, and looked calmly at the
two standing just inside the door.
"Dont you have anything better to do, Father?"
"Oh, yes! I must make the wedding arrangements!" Soun had rivers rushing from
his eyes. He rushed out of the room.
Ranma released Akane and took a step back, looking her up and down.
Akane stood shocked for a moment, then swung her mallet at his skull. "Ranma
no baka!" Ranma caught it easily in his hand.
"I dont think so, Akane. As you can see, Ive learned a few tricks while Ive
been gone."
Akane just stood still as he clenched his fist. Her mallet shattered silently.
"Its good to see you again, Akane. Remember, love is for *always* Akane-chan."
With that, he flashed Akane a mysterious smile and walked up the stairs. "I
think Ill go take a warm bath." He disappeared around a corner.
Akane just stared after him, stunned.

The next few days passed as normal. The vacation finished up, and a week and a
half later, Ranma and Akane returned to school. As usual, a crowd of boys were
waiting to fight Akane. Ranma strode forward, fury in his eyes.
"Akane is *my* fiancee! You _will_ leave her alone! Do you understand?"
	The others rushed him.
Ranma stood his ground until they were just in front of him. He then leapt
into motion, launching punches and kicks with the speed of his Tenshin
Amaguriken technique. He stopped after they all were on the ground. It had
taken less than a minute. He wasnt even breathing hard.
"Saotome! I will not allow you to hold the fair Akane in your foul clutches!
Release her from your sorcery or I will be forced to unleash the wrath of the
heavens upon you! This do I, Tatewaki Kuno, the Blue Thunder of Furinkan High,
swear!"
Kuno dropped to the ground in front of Ranma, his bokken held in his hand.
Ranma just looked at him, an amused grin on his face. Ranma strode forward and
slapped Kuno in the face, grinning. Kuno stood, staring at Ranma and holding his
face, as Ranma just walked by him.
"Saotome! I challenge you! Will you be a coward, now, and show your true
colors? For the fair Akane and my pig-tailed goddess, I will fight you!"
"Shut up, Kuno. If you wanted a fight, you should have said so in the first
place instead of ranting on. Lets rock!"
Ranma dropped into a fighting stance and waited for Kuno. Kuno leapt at him,
striking out with his bokken. Ranma parried the bokken with the back of his
hand and ducked under Kunos flying body. He spun and swung his leg out in a
circle and drove the back of his heel into Kunos belly. Kuno fell to the
ground gasping, his bokken lying by his hand. Ranma grinned at him and walked
away.

Akane awoke to the sounds of fighting. She looked out her window to see Ranma,
still dressed in the strange garb hed returned in, beating his father around
the yard. Genma was trying futilely to block or dodge Ranmas blows, but five
out of six still struck him. Akane could see tiny rivulets of blood running down
Genmas face. She dressed quickly and ran downstairs as Kasumi called, saying
"Breakfast is ready!".
"Cmon, *old man*, surely you can do better than that? Lets see if you can
stop this!" Ranma yelled and threw a blast of black chi at Genma, who fell to
the ground, his chest and clothing smoking. "I guess not," Ranma said, heading
inside.
"Ranma! What did you do to your father?" Akane stood before him, hands on her
hips.
"Nothing *too* hurtful... Hell be out for a while, thats all," Ranma pushed
Akane aside roughly and strode into the house.
