While I was listening to my new Poi Dog CD, Ryan Mathews wrote:
I am having a great deal of trouble finding time to write while
working full-time. Work takes the best hours of the day from me.
I'd love to write after coming home, but I just don't know how. I'm
too drained.

Oh yeah, you think that's bad? Try going to work full-time, then afterwards
going to school for the rest of the evening! And, on top of that, write a
book! Ha! How about *them* apples!?!?!

It's not easy, but writing can be done. I'm a secretary, so sometimes, when
I don't have much to do, I do a little writing then. I squeeze in writing
in longhand on the train, sometimes in my classes. I usually come home
around 9:00, and since I live alone, I take about 15 minutes to relax, then
I write until 10:30. Then I check email, then go to bed. Not the best of
routines, but ususally I try to get an hour's worth of writing done each
day. Usually I alternate between my fanfic(s) and my book.

Right now, things are easier because I'm out of school for three weeks. The
real time crunch will come at the end of May, when I take classes again
with the biggest classload I ever had since I started going part-time (a
class each weeknight except Fridays, and a class on Saturday morning.
Yikes!), so my writing time may trickle down a bit. But after August, I'll
be free, free, free! No more classes! No more books! No more
teacher's...aww, you get the gist of it.

But the best way I write: multi-tasking. You'll be surprised at how I can
sort mail, read a fanfic, answer the phone, and write a story at the same
time. Multi-task, baby, multi-task. Comes from being a secretary ;-)
