This is only a rough preview of the ideas I have so far. I’m still working
on Toma K/9, so I don’t have too much time to spend on this story until I’m
done there. Until then, I’ll take and ideas/criticism/comments you can
dish out. Also keep in mind, I don’t know much about how the Japanese
College system works (outside of the little I’ve seen in Maison Ikkoku).
Most of the stuff I write about is based off any real life, American
college experiences I’ve had.

Hakkyou Daigaku

Hakkyou Daigaku is a college, fictionally set in Japan. It’s kind of a
Jack of Trades school because it offers majors and classes on anything from
math to the study of how Dick Clark remains so young. (Current theories
include something close the vampirism or he’s an android) It’s name
literally mean ‘Insanity University.’ The staff says that’s because it
offers an insane number of course. The students believe it’s because the
people that go there are mostly insane. This is the place we meet our
hero(?) Akira.

Azusa Hall-
This is one of the four dorm buildings available on campus. It is a three
story building, with 20 rooms per floor. Each floor is one wing, with a
commons area to the right side of the building. The first floor commons is
the main entryway of the building and is mostly taken up by the main
office. The second floor is the main hot-spot. The commons there holds a
few video games, pool tables, darts, an old TV, and the snack machines.
The third floor holds the study area. It also contains an old piano. Now,
for a quick tour of some of the first floor rooms:

Room 1: Mitsuro & Takumi
Mitsuro is majoring in media. He hopes one day to become a great reporter
by uncovering scandals. His only problem is, he rarely gets a chance to go
out the campus and has to wit for something to happen at the dorms. His
main motivation for anything is money, and once he has it, he’ll do
anything to keep it.
Takumi is majoring in Architecture. He’s always planning new and better
ways of building the dorms, even though they’re already built, and is
constantly reorganizing his and Mitsuro’s room so it will be
‘architecturally sound.’ He tends to drive Mitsuro crazy with this, and
his constant mood swings, which changes faster than the room.

Room 2: Naomi & Sachi
Naomi is majoring in electronics. She is constantly creating new devices,
most of which work unexpectedly. Her favorite invention is a robot she
built, that actually works, called Jiro. She also seems to be a jinx to
anyone around her.
Sachi is a law student. She believes in the law and follows it to the
letter. She is utterly honest to the law. She’s the type that would turn
you in for tearing off the ‘Do Not Remove’ tags from mattresses. She also
believes that her roommate is building machines to spy on her all the time.
She’s most paranoid when Naomi hasn’t been seen for a while.

Room 3: Daisuke
Daisuke is an agricultural engineer. He’s lucky enough not to have any
roommates this semester, which is good because they wouldn’t have any place
to stay. He’s turned his entire room into a greenhouse. The spare bed in
the room has been turned into a flower bed. The entire room is hot and
humid from the tiny sprinkler and sun lamp systems. He often spends days
in there, living off the food he has grown. Every weekend, he likes to
play music for his plants, but he’s not sure if they are hearing it, so he
keeps turning up the volume. Over the years, this has had it’s affect on
him, as he’s become nearly deaf.

Room 5: Wasaburo & Ziro
Wasaburo is taking Theater as his major. He often runs around as
characters from different plays. In fact, he becomes so wrapped up in the
part, he actually becomes the character for a while.
Ziro is a mechanic. He’s always tinkering with other people’s cars and
motorcycles. He has a motorcycle, or possible two, in parts, scattered
across his bed and desk. He often sleeps on the floor because of this. He
can’t really sleep in his bed anyway, due to his 7'4" height.

Room 7: Bando & Giichi
Bando is a philosopher. In other words, he seeks out total enlightenment
through various religions. Is always ready to spout words of wisdom, which
only make sense to himself. He bases all off his life on his religions and
puts all of his trust into any intuitions he gets.
Giichi is a chemistry major. He’s is often trying to cure something or
make the ultimate cleaning fluid. Often, he only makes a noxious smell or
explosion. At times, his skin changes color due to his latest failure.
He’s also developed a nasty habit of stuttering.

Room 10: Fumiko & Ryoko
Fumiko is a practicing accountant. She is very good at math and rarely
uses a calculator.
Ryoko studies the history of the world. She is so deep into the past, she
rarely surfaces in the present. She is always thinking about the past and
tends to avoid everyone else for fear she might get distracted and forget
something.

Room 11: Okito
Okito is another single occupant. He is trying to major in everything and
be the best he can be. Nobody wants to room with him because of his
jealousy factor. He sees anyone that can do anything better than him as a
rival and will do anything to one-up that person.

Room 14: Eiko & Ikiko
Eiko is a business major, and runs her life just like one. Her one major
problem is she’s 100% color blind.
Ikiko is a beautiful young woman with a great singing voice. That is why
she’s majoring in music, in hopes that she will one day become a singing
idol.

Room 19: Hirofume & Ukasa
Hirofume is the resident slacker. He’s been going to Hakkyou for several
years, but nobody knows what his major is. Nobody even shares any of his
classes. He is often known for lying and laziness.
Ukasa is a geology major. He likes to collect many types of rocks.
Although, lately, some of his rock collection keeps disappearing. He
suspects Hirofume is stealing some and selling them.

Room 20: Chizuko & Yoshimi
Chizuko is a psychology major. She often acts as shrink for the dorm and
can be found arguing psychology versus philosophy with Bando
Yoshimi is a language major and knows several different languages. She
often starts a sentence with one language and ends in another. It seems
her hardest language to speak is Japanese.

And finally, the dreaded Room 13: Akira & Keiko
Akira is majoring in teaching. He’s a natural leader, intelligent,
handsome, and just about perfect if it wasn’t for the fact his life is
cursed. He couldn’t get into Tokyo University because of his poor grades.
It’s wasn’t that he did bad in class, he was just so bored with the
assignments he’d forget to do most of them. His father has shunned him
until he gets through college with a high GPA. He also seems to be
surrounded by weirdness at all times. Take for example, his roommate.
Keiko is a typical computer nerd. She often spends all day typing away at
the keyboard. Much of that time writing fanfics. You may have noticed the
‘she.’ Yes, Keiko is a girl, and somehow is being roomed with Akira. Both
her and Akira have tried complaining to the management, but so far it’s
been no good and they seem stuck with each other.
