It just isn't appropriate.

I agree with you. I don't really think any of the characters should
swear...although Ranma seems always on the verge of it ;)

This had to be on purpose. How could you read or watch any of the
series and NOT pick up on their speech patterns? Their all so distinct.
When I'm writing for them, they virtually TELL me what they'd say and
only a select few ever use actual profanity. It had to be a major point
for the authors story which might explain their reaction. Or maybe the
author just suck, one or the other ;)

I wrote C&C to the author, expressing my concern about the language
usage. I was not (particularly) rude in my letter, I did not flame
the author. I simply expressed my opinion that this kind of language
doesn't belong in the Ranma universe.

The reply I received told me to "learn to love it" and at the end the
author wrote "P.S. Fuck you."

I ask you, is this kind of thing neccessary?

I don't think that was necessary simply because you didn't flame him for his
language usage. He should have responded in the same manner as you did
commenting on his story. It doesn't really matter because if he choses to
respond that way, that's his perogative(?sp).

Another thing to consider. The guy was posting flamebait and he knew
it. He was probably nervous and freaked when you responded. You DO have
a bit of a reputation, Robert. Just don't read the guys work, if it's
who I'm thinking, your not missing much ;)
