The English dub says 'a thousand years ago,' but that's just their own
embellishment - the best answer I've been able to come up with is

Not much.  It had a Prince (Endymion), and was corrupted/taken over by
Beryl.  It had been watched over by the immortals of the Silver Millennium
(the Moon Kingdom), who were guiding its development.  Endymion had four
advisors, whose minds were taken over by Beryl (the Shitennou/Four
Generals).  That's about it, as far as I know...

And Beryl, powered by 
the supernatural Metallia - whe was from Earth, too, right?

As far as I know.  I believe it's been said that she was originally from
the Earth Kingdom, and was in love with Endymion, and it was his rejection
of her for Princess Serenity that caused her to strike a bargain with
Metallia - but I'm not sure how much of that is canon and how much is fan
speculation.

	And if I remember - the assault on the moon kingdom was from
Earth, backed up by various demonic forces - or am I wrong?  Any word of
what happened to the other planetary kingdoms? 

You're right - the anime shows an army of men coming from Earth, backed up
by the Generals, Beryl, and Metallia, and implies that the Seven Great
Youma (Seven Shadows, in the dub) were there too.  (If you don't know, the
Seven Great Youma were seven powerful youma warriors who could combine
into a single, hugely powerful youma.  Their souls were imprisoned in the
shards of the Ginzuishou (Silver Crystal), and they were reincarnated
along with Sailor Moon and the others, in human forms.)  As for the other
planetary kingdoms, I'm not entirely sure they even existed.  All the
references I've ever seen to them has been in fan fiction - I don't
believe that the original mentioned the solar system beyond Earth and the
Moon at all, unless it's in some of the manga I haven't read.  You're
pretty free to improvise on this matter - everyone else has. :-)

	Second: 
	Yokho - 108th (?) demon-hunting descendant, current in a long 
line of mamono slayers (BTW, what's the diff. between a youma and a 
mamono?).

'Mamono' is basically a generic word meaning 'monster.'  'Youma' is a more
specific word, relating to demons in some way, I believe.  In Sailor Moon,
'youma' is used only to refer to the first season's villains, from the
Dark Kingdom - later seasons have monsters of their own, like cardians,
droids, daimons, etc.
