You could have Cologne cast a spell which is intended to turn Akane into 
someone who doesn't love Ranma.  The spell would have the unfortunate, 
yet convient, side effect of simply switching minds with someone who 
doesn't love Ranma: Kasumi.  Deus ex machina rides again!

This would be cool if, through her docility, Kasumi went and 
married Ranma while in Akane's body.  Other possibilities:
Kasumi: Ranma no baka![Whips out her extra dimensional rolling pin and 
whaps Ranma to next Tuesday]
