Personality and History:
Mika is a friendly, yet practical student at Mizuhara High School
in HyperTokyo, Japan. She enjoys a fair amount of popularity and
is known for above-average grades. She probably would have had
the normal life of a high school girl in 2095 Japan.
However, that was not to be. One day, she ran across what
appeared to be a lost robopet in the shape of a penguin. When
she did a quick ID check using her unicom*, it was registered to
her, which was quite odd. She had never owned a robopet in her
entire life, prefering flesh-and-blood pets instead.
Nevertheless, she took the robopet, named Penko, with her. Later
that day, however, she found herself at the scene of a youma
attack in progress. More than a little stunned, Mika couldn't
believe what was happening. After all, youma were the things of
cheesy magical girl holovid shows, right?
It was then that Penko started to act and speak independantly,
revealing herself to be a liason for the Magical Girl Corps. The
MGC was a secret government organization dedicated to protecting
the innocent, defending justice, and cleaning up after those damn
fools in the military whenever they goofed something up.
Not only did Penko work for the MGC, but she informed Mika that
she was drafted into the MGC as of that moment. Penko instructed
Mika to take the silver choker that mysteriously appeared out of
thin air and to recite the magic phrase that would activate her
magical girl form. Mika did so and became "Exquisite Sol-
dier...Bismark?!"
Penko quickly explained that the MGC was running out of naming
schemes, under threat of becoming scrap metal at Mika's hands.
Penko was able to put in a name change request and Mika was
renamed "Exquisite Solder Lovely Freesia", much to Mika's relief.
After finding herself stuck in making a long, cliched speech,
Mika was finally ready for battle. However, she found several
things distressing as she tried to fight. For one thing, her
measurements and height had increased from those of a teenager to
those of a young woman, and a bosomy one at that! Not only that,
but the costume she was in was very revealing, much to her
constant dismay. Her magical attacks weren't much better. For
one thing, the Flower Petal Blitz she had did little more than
create a cloud of freesia petals, which obscured vision at best.
Finally ticked off at the less-than-adequate aspects of her new
job, she was able to engage her Magic Soul Blade, her ultimate
weapon. Unfortunately, her anger provided the energy that made
up the blade and it wound up being 5 meters (15 feet) in length.
The extreme length of the blade, combined with her not being used
to her new body, caused her to fall flat on her face. Luckily,
she did so in a way that took out the attacking youma.
In the days following, Mika has learned to live with her new
position as a mysterious-yet-sexy defender of the world. Even
having to deal with low-grade attacks and perks due to government
cutbacks, a couple of teammates that left much to be desired, and
hordes of drooling fanboys. That doesn't mean that she won't
complain. In fact, she'll complain a lot due to such drawbacks
in her job. However, she learns to live up to the duty of a
member of the Magical Girl Corps.
* - UNIfied COMmunications device. A handheld hybrid of a PDA,
audio/video/computer remote control, and holovid phone. Resem-
bles an 8" (20.3cm) 20th century remote control.
Special Abilities:
First off, her transformation sequence, while embarrasing for
her, leaves her in a more mature form to help confuse others as
to her identity. She, as well as all magical girls, also radi-
ates a field that clouds the ability of others to identify Lovely
Freesia as Miyakawa Mika.
Lovely Freesia can slow down her enemies by way of a long,
drawn-out speech. She has no choice but to make such a speech
whenever she enters battle, since she's the team leader. Lucki-
ly, she is protected by a magical protection field that prevents
youma from interrupting her as logic would dicate tactically.
Her Flower Petal Blitz is best used as a defensive measure, since
it only consists of a rapidly growing cloud of freesia petals.
Effective at obscuring vision, but not much else.
Her main weapon is her Magic Soul Blade, an energy blade powered
by the force of her emotions. However, she tends to have trouble
controlling it and it sometimes winds up being nearly three times
her own height. However, once she gets it under control, it is a
very potent weapon that can cut through nearly anything save
another soul blade.
Relationships with Other Characters
Despite the strain some of her teammates put her through, Mika
likes them well enough. Toriyama Akiko is like an older sister
of hers due to the fact that they've known each other since Mika
was eight and Akiko was thirteen.
As for Ferris and Mura Natsumi, Mika has known them for over a
year. While she gets along with Ferris just great, Natsumi often
tries her patience. The three girls are in the same class and
study group, and Mika and Ferris often will have to work harder
to compensate for Natsumi's usual poor performance. Thus, the
two will often gang up to chew out Natsumi whenever she messes
something up. Deep down, though, they do like each other.
Mika hasn't known Takara Akira long enough to really form a
conclusive opinion about him. However, he is one of the more
reliable members of the team, and he often tries to help keep the
peace in the team. When they first met, she had a minor crush on
him due to his good looks. However, it didn't last long when she
found out about his being gay, but she settled for being friends
with him and helping him when it comes to the usual harassments
from Ferris.
Her biggest source of stress on the team, though, is the liason
between them and MGC command, Penko. It's not that Mika doesn't
like Penko, it's just that Penko is either bringing bad news
regarding the state of their powers and abilities due to budget
cutbacks, or she's nagging Mika and the others on how to behave
as magical girls. Of course, this is a major source of irrita-
tion, but Penko is usually coming through in a pinch when it
matters most.
Outside of the team, her best freinds are Hayashibara Ayako and
Sadamoto Nobuo. She's known both of them since junior high
school, when Ayako and Nobuo were a couple. In the years since
then, the two have broken up and remained friends. While she is
trying to be respectful of Ayako, Mika is beginning to feel
deeply for Nobuo. However, she is uncertain if Nobuo feels the
same way due to his shyness.
The one classmate she cannot stand is Mendo Arisa. Arisa, being
the "queen" of Mizuhara High School, can be quite overbearing
most of the time and is often out to denigrate the competitor she
sees in Mika. Mika, for her part, would love to see the stuck-up
bitch she sees in Arisa get hers, especially since Arisa's been
getting even more obnoxious in recent days.
As for her family life, Mika has a normal one, with a father,
mother, and a younger brother. Aside from the usual adolescent
conflicts with her parents, she gets along with them and loves
them very much. When it comes to her brother, Katsu, Mika will
often complain about him being a brat, but also loves him very
much and does her best to be a good older sister for him.
Activities and Interests
In addition to keeping her studies up so she could become a
literature major in college, Mika is also active as a member of
the school's rhythmic gymnastics team, along with Ferris and
Natsumi, as well as Arisa. She's also a member of the school's
literature club since she plans on being a writer.
Whenever she gets a break Mika relaxes by either reading or
writing romance stories while listening to soft music. She also
likes to take care of flowers as best as she can, as well as
keeping a small collection of stuffed animals. She'd really like
to take care of a real live pet, but her apartment complex only
allows robopets, so Penko has to suffice.

Toriyama Akiko - Exquisite Soldier Crimson Rose

holographic displays linked to MGC mainframes; white
high-heel, knee-length boots and elbow-length gloves;
silver choker with a red crystal set in it
Personality and History
Toriyama Akiko is the type of girl that tends to keep busy while
having a smile on her face. Not only is she a student at Hyper-
Tokyo university, but she volunteers her time in a tutor program
at one of the local high schools. She also spends a lot of time
helping out her paternal grandmother, Toriyama Miyako with taking
care of the Hikawa Shrine.
Akiko's life became a lot more complicated once she started
looking into why one of her students, Miyakawa Mika, started
acting distant and mysterious. Akiko had a better idea of what
might've been going on because a) the strange behavior started
just after the appearances of a new magical girl named Lovely
Freesia, and b) Akiko's grandmother was actually a former magical
girl (the leader of the Starlight Rangers, in fact) and passed
down her stories to Akiko when she was a child.
After a few days of quiet investigation, Akiko's perserverance
paid off when Mika headed over to where a youma attack was taking
place. Remaining hidden, Akiko witnessed Mika's transformation,
confirming her suspicions. However, the fight was going badly
for the inexperienced Mika, and Akiko had to do something.
Spying a length of chain amongst the rubble, Akiko grabbed it and
lashed the youma upside the head with it. Taking advantage of
the distraction it caused, Akiko grabbed Mika's hand and dragged
her off for some cover. Penko, being present, followed and
informed Akiko that she, too, was drafted into the Magical Girl
Corps like Mika was.
Following Penko's instructions, Akiko engaged her transformation
sequence and became Exquisite Soldier Yamato. After a brief
discussion between the two girls and the robopet, punctuated by
threats of bludgeoning by way of broken lead pipe, she was
renamed Exquisite Soldier Crimson Rose.
While her attacks were not on a par with Mika's powerful (yet
uncontrollable) soul blade, she had some very useful abilities
that were effective against the youma. Unfortunately, her
ultimate attack, the Fire Blossom, was indiscriminate and result-
ed in the two girls beating a hasty retreat while the youma went
up in flames along with the buildings around it.
Ever since that day, Akiko has been a helpful teammate to Mika.
Not only was she quite capable in combat, but she had some
knowledge of what being a magical girl was all about due to her
grandmother's stories. She also managed to get her grandmother
to let them use the temple as a base of operations. Akiko also
acts as a calming influence and counsellor to the ever-frustrated
Mika.
Special Abilities
Crimson Rose has some of the more effective abilites for combat.
Along with certain perks as a Magical Girl, like the ID-protec-
tion field, she has the Thorny Vine Whiplash. The whiplash is an
entangling attack that takes the form of a giant vine with thorns
(obviously), that can also do great damage to her enemies.
Crimson Rose is also capable of generating the Fire Blossom, an
area-effect attack in the form of a cloud of flame. Like all
area-effect attacks, the fire blossom cannot differentiate
between friend and foe. Crimson Rose has to be careful of when,
where, and how to use this attack to avoid hurting her friends
and causing additional property damage.
Relationships with Other Characters
Akiko, being an only child, is happy to treat the other Exquisite
Soldiers as a set of younger siblings that she never had. She's
already known Mika since she was thirteen and Mika was eight,
when a couple of local boys were trying to bully Mika at a New
Year's festival at the Hikawa Shrine. Since then, Akiko has been
trying to help Mika through whatever life threw at them as they
grew up and became close friends. She also gives Mika advice on
a variety of things, from being a magical girl to handling her
budding relationship with Sadomoto Nobuo.
By the time Mika reached high school, Akiko was already volun-
teering her time as a tutor. She naturally took in Mika and the
two girls assigned as study partners, Mura Natsumi and Ferris.
For Akiko, Natsumi is a bit babyish at times, in constant need of
reassurance. It's almost obvious to Akiko that Natsumi is in
need of some real friends to help her through life.
As for Ferris, she's a handful at times. It doesn't surprise
Akiko since she's also known Ferris for a while as well. Akiko
was classmates with Ferris's older brother, Makara, and sister,
Imari, back in high school and had a brief relationship with
Makara. So, Akiko is used to dealing with myanarans, and knows
how to handle Ferris whenever it appears that she might cut
loose.
Takara Akira strikes Akiko as a competent, level-headed guy,
willing to help out with keeping Natsumi's spirits up and reas-
suring Mika that not everyone on the team is a basket-case. She
realized that Akira was gay since her grandmother has told her
from occasion that many so-called pretty boys were gay, and his
reactions around Ferris and the other girls confirmed it.
The only family Akiko lives with is her grandmother, Miyako, at
the Hikawa Shrine. She moved out of her parents care a couple of
years back, and moved in with her grandmother to assist her in
the care of the temple wile she attends college. Even though she
no longer lives with her parents, she still cares for them, as
well as her grandmother.
While Makara has moved on to serve with the UEF space defense
forces, Akiko still keeps in touch with him as best as she can.
Even though their relationship is over, they remain good friends.
In the meantime, Akiko attends HyperTokyo University with Imari,
with Akiko majoring in history while Imari studies engineering
and metallurgy.
Akiko has formed close relationships with two members of the
Mizuhara High School faculty. Kuno Sayoko was her literature
teacher during her high school days and the two often get togeth-
er to reflect on how things were back then and how things have
changed since then. She's also become good friends with Chelsea,
the school's doctor ever since Chelsea became an ally of the
team, lending medical assistance from time to time.
Akiko has observed one of Mika's classmates from a distance and
doesn't like what she sees. Mendo Arisa is often trying to
tarnish Mika's image in order to boost her popularity (or at
least destroy her perceived rival's). Akiko has had to deal with
so-called "queens" in high school, but Arisa is worse than those
have ever been. Lately, Arisa has been acting suspiciously, as
well as working to shed a dim light on the Exquisite Soldiers as
a whole. Akiko gets the feeling that things are only going to
get worse with Arisa.
Activities and Interests
Between her studies and her volunteer work at both the temple and
at Mizuhara High, Akiko has little free time. While she is not
currently in a relationship, she does go on the occasional date
or on a club excursion with Chelsea.
When she does find time alone to herself, she'll curl up with a
book on history or ancient Japanese literature. She'll also
listen to either classical or traditional Japanese music. She'll
also dabble in art as well as playing her own music to soothe her
soul.

Personality and History
Mura Natsumi is one of the most popular girls in Miyakawa Mika's
class at Mizuhara high school. She loves to flirt with the boys
and is quite good-looking to boot. However, she also lives up to
the stereotype of the dumb blond to the hilt. While many wonder
how she managed to get as far as she did in the school system,
she also gets many offers from the boys to study with them.
One day, after getting out of the detention handed to her by her
literature teacher, Kuno Sayoko, an explosion took out the shop
next to her favorite ramen stand. Not thinking clearly enough to
run away, Natsumi decided to check out the fireworks instead.
What she found was her two newest heroes, Exquisite Soldiers
Lovely Freesia and Crimson Rose, fighting off a youma attack.
Seeing that youma tend to be scarier in real life than they
appear to be on holovid, Natsumi started to back up, only to bump
into a carbonized pillar. While something like that would be
worrisome, what happened was that the pillar cracked, causing the
rafter sitting on top of it to collapse right onto the youma,
pinning it temporarily.
Observing that Natsumi's apparant dumb luck could be an asset to
the team, a hidden Penko waddled over and drafted Natsumi on the
spot. Unlike Mika's or Akiko's earlier inductions, Natsumi's
came off without a hitch, turning her into Exquisite Soldier
Golden Poppy.
Upon seeing Natsumi's uniform, Mika was burning with envy.
Unlike Mika's uniform, which left little to the imagination,
Natsumi's had a much more modest cut to it with a halter-styled
suit and a longer skirt. Penko pointed out that Mika was the
team leader and thus bore the responsibility of wearing the more
attention-getting suit, while Natsumi was just a regular team
member and could get away with showing less, like Akiko.
As the youma was coming to, Natsumi decided to try out her new
powers, starting with her Poppy Seed Cloud. While appearing to
be less effective than even Mika's Flower Petal Cloud, Natsumi's
attack proved to be much more useful. It became evident that the
seeds and essence used in the attack came from a different kind
of poppy than the golden one. The end result was that the youma
ended up quite stoned and unable to defend itself properly.
Natsumi managed to finish off the youma with her other attack,
the Poppy Seed Shower. While the name made the attack sound
harmless, it was anything but. It wasn't seeds that showered
onto the youma, but the pods those seeds came in at hypersonic
speeds. The youma was soon pulp, then ashes as its body burned
away like all youma do upon death.
Natsumi was firmly established as part of Mika's team, but not
without protest. Mika, having been in the same class as Natsumi
for the previous year, knew how slow Natsumi could be in the
mental department and did not like it one bit. Often, Mika would
wind up chastising the blond over one mishap or another. It is
only Akiko's intervention from time to time that prevents Mika
from causing bodily harm to Natsumi.
Even with Mika's fits of frustration, Natsumi enjoys being on the
team. She may not entirely grasp the situation most of the time,
she does prove to be a big help with her abilities and her luck
(without which, Natsumi might not have gotten as far in life as
she has...).
Special Abilities
Natsumi is naturally endowed with phenominal luck. This is
basically how she got up to high school with her lack of mental
abilities. Her luck can easily tip the scales to the Exquisite
Soldiers' favor during battle.
She is also capable of generating a cloud of poppy seeds.
However, the seeds seem to be from either the opium poppy or a
similar species rather than her namesake, the golden poppy. The
end result is that her target becomes intoxicated and unable to
mount any effective defenses or offensive moves.
Her ultimate attack is a hail of poppy seed-pods brought down
upon her enemies at hypersonic speeds. This results in the
targets being pummled to a pulp, quite naturally.
Relationships with Other Characters
Natsumi tries her best to get along with her teammates, but finds
it hard when Mika and Ferris are often chastizing her for falling
short of expectations in either school or on MGC business. She
does find comfort in the way that Akiko and Takara Akira come on
her side on occasion and get the other two off of her back. She
knows that they're all friends and they mean well, but often she
is hurt that she cannot seem to measure up. She'll often keep
this hurt to herself in order to try to preserve their friend-
ships.
To Natsumi, friendships are the most important thing in the
world. This is because her home life is less than idylic. Her
father abandoned her and her mother while she was very young, and
her mother, Jun, tends to treat her poorly because of this. So,
Natsumi tries to hang on to whatever friendships she may have
because it's her friends who treat her the most decently. Even
when some of them chew her out from time to time.
If anything, Natsumi's ditziness is a partial cover for her
insecurities. Somewhere along the way, she figured that more
people like her if she acted bubbly and outgoing, and somehow
ended up turning that into airheadedness. However, she is slowly
realizing that her true friends do like her for who she is, not
how she acts.
Activities and Interests
Natsumi is a member of Mizuhara High School's rhythmic gymnastics
team, tagging along with her freinds Mika and Ferris. While she
may stumble on occasion, she does show some promise given better
training.
Outside of school, Natsumi tries to hang out with her friends or
go on dates as much as possible. While this may seem clingy of
her, it reflects a subconscious desire to be away from home as
much as possible. Her home life consists mostly of chores, since
her mother spends most of the day at work to support them. When
Jun is home, though, she either ignores Natsumi for the most
part, or is constantly denigrating her.

Ferris - Exquisite Soldier Pretty Daisy

- Tan fur with spots

Personality and History
Ferris is a member of the second generation of myanarans to have
been born on Earth. Her grandparents were cryogenic passengers
on the colonization ship that crashed in Tokyo Bay in 2049,
stranding the crew and passengers from Myanara. If it weren't
for the last-ditch efforts of the Magical Girl Corps at the time,
the ship would have crashed in Tokyo proper rather than just in
the bay. In fact, Toriyama Akiko's grandmother was one of the
magical girls who helped in this last effort, proving to be her
final mission as a magical girl due to her powers burning out in
the process.
Like most myanarans of her generation, Ferris has adapted rela-
tively well to human society and has made friends with those
around her. Being assigned to the same class at Mizuhara High
School, Ferris is friends with Miyakawa Mika and being acquainted
with the ditzy Mura Natsumi. From time to time, she'll also
study with them under Akiko's tutelage.
Also, like most myanarans, she's very aggressive in both the
fighting and the sexual senses of the word. It doesn't take much
to get into a fight with her. If one is male, then it also
doesn't take very much to get her attention as long as one is
good-looking and appears to have some stamina. She finds both
myanaran and human males attractive (It was found out soon after
their arrival that myanarans and humans were compatible in that
sense. No children would result, but the parts fit.) and will
pursue both equally. Also, like most myanarans, she has trouble
grasping the idea of homosexuality and is often annoyed by gay
and lesbian humans.
She's also very curious, which led to her conscription into the
Magical Girl Corps. One evening, while trying to pick up guys at
one of the local malls, she found herself in a fleeing mob that
was ordered to evacuate that very mall. Instead of going with
the crowd, Ferris decided to see just what it was that led to the
evacuation order.
What she found was a trio of somewhat-familiar-looking girls
fighting off five of those monsters she'd seen on the news
lately. Unfortunately, one of the youma in question spotted
Ferris and attacked her, figuring her to be easy prey compared to
the magical girls giving his cohorts trouble.
The youma was surprised by Ferris attacking him instead, placing
several effective claw-swipes on his face, arms, and torso. As
Ferris landed, the youma struck back, knocking her over a stack
of books in a bookstore.
Starting to get up, Ferris was surprised to see a robopet in the
shape of a penguin. In fact, this was the same robopet that Mika
started keeping with her lately. She was even more surprised
when the robopet, Penko, started talking to her like a sentient
would.
As Ferris sat back, trying to deal with the idea of a sentient
robopet, Penko offered to allow Ferris the chance to join the
Magical Girl Corps and fight with the others. Being ticked off
at the youma who whacked her moments ago, she accepted and was
turned into Exquisite Soldier Pretty Daisy.
The youma in question was momentarily confused when a myanaran
magical girl pounced on him from where he tossed the interloper a
minute earlier. The confusion didn't last long as Ferris used
the first of her new attacks, the ClawStorm, on him. The youma
died from the shock that the many wounds she inflicted caused
him.
Looking around, she recognized the other magical girls as Mika,
Akiko, and Natsumi. The reason why she was able to recognize
them at the moment was that she was now a magical girl and the
ID-protection fields they had didn't affect teammates.
While greeting her friends and new teammates, she charged up her
other weapon, the LaserWhip. Spotting two youma ganging up on
Mika, she lashed out and entangled one of them. Willing more
power into the whip, Ferris was able to burn into the trapped
youma, slicing him into two. Mika took advantage of the break
that Ferris gave her and impaled the other youma attacking her
with her Magic Soul Blade. Once that was done, both Mika and
Ferris assisted Akiko and Natsumi with the remaining youma.
As she became a regular member of the Exquisite Soldiers team, it
became apparent that she was the most aggressive and foolhardy
one. Itching for a fight, she'd usually be the first one to
attack once Mika wrapped up her mandatory speech. However, she's
also easy to dupe when a youma takes the form of a handsome male.
Special Abilities:
Pretty Daisy's combat abilities are more geared to melee attacks
rather than long range ones. Besides the standard perks that
come with being a Magical Girl, such as the ID-protection field
and such, she can attack her foes with what she calls the "Claw-
Storm". Using this attack, she slashes her targets with a flurry
of claws from her hands and feet.
She is also able to generate a LaserWhip, which is even more
damaging than Crimson Rose's Thorny Vine Whiplash. The LaserWhip
is capable of burning through whatever it entangles, according to
Pretty Daisy's wishes. Like Lovely Freesia's Magic Soul Blade,
it can attain long lengths, though not quite as long as the
blade.
As a myanaran, Pretty Daisy also has better senses of hearing and
smell, as well as superior agility and speed.
Relationships with Other Characters
Ferris gets along as best as she can with her fellow Exquisite
Soldiers. She's known Mika for over a year now, and is one of
her best friends. Between the time Mika was drafted, and she
herself was drafted, Ferris was put off by Mika's secrecy. Once
Ferris was drafted, though, she began to understand why and has
forgiven her friend for it.
She also knows about Mika's feelings for Sadomoto Nobuo, and
often tries to push her to do something about them. She finds
the shyness those two show around each other to be frustrating
and is often trying to resist the urge to spell things out for
the two.
She will often join Mika in chewing out Natsumi whenever Natsumi
screws up either academically or on the battlefield. A lot of
this stems from Ferris's general impatience with things. Howev-
er, Ferris feels that Natsumi can do better if she'll just
concentrate on things around her.
Of all the team members, Ferris has known Akiko the longest, but
not as long as Akiko and Mika have known each other. When her
older brother and sister were in high school, they were in the
same class as Akiko, and Akiko was often over at Ferris's house.
For a while, Akiko and Makara, Ferris's older brother, were an
item. While Ferris was the typical bratty little sister back
then, she's matured some and treats Akiko with more respect and
friendliness. She knows that she can be a bit troublesome for
Akiko still, but she's working on that.
The one person on the team that she is not getting along with at
all is Akira. When they met, Ferris had a big crush on him.
When Akira told her that he was gay, she was devestated. Out of
anger, she attacked him, but Mika, Akiko, and Natsumi managed to
hold her back before she could hurt him. Out of the hurt she had
resulting from this, she continued to verbally attack and harrass
him. This has been easing off lately, as Akira has kept his cool
and proved himself to be a good team member and friend to the
others. Deep down, she still likes him, but is too proud to
admit it. Her own prejudices are also getting in the way of a
reconcilliation between them, but she's slowly coming to realize
how stupid they are.
Ferris's family life is very tight, like most myanarans. If her
parents tell her to do something, she will do it gladly. Howev-
er, she's starting to be torn apart by the conflict between being
honest with her parents, and the need for the teams' secrecy. As
for her siblings, she's very close to them. She misses Makara
deeply since he's serving in the UEF's space defence forces on
space island Genareos II. At least she still has her older
sister, Imari, and her younger sister, Kima, around.
Like Mika, Ferris often has to stifle the urge to place-kick
Mendo Arisa out the window. In fact, Ferris has gotten in
trouble from time to time for striking the stuck-up rich girl,
due to her impulsiveness. Lately, though, Ferris has been
sensing something really wrong about Arisa and is becoming more
and more determined to find out what.
Activities and Interests
Ferris is one of the star athletes on the rhythmic gymnastics
team at Mizuhara High. She'll often help out her teammates, save
Arisa, in their routines while working on her own. She especial-
ly spends time with Natsumi, since she recognizes some talent on
Natsumi's part despite the occasional mishap.
Ferris also has a very active dating life, and has recently
brought her sexual life to the fore. This is instinctual for
her, so she has no regrets regarding sleeping around, as long as
her partners are close friends who are very attractive males.
To keep in shape as both an athlete and a magical girl, Ferris is
often working out with both aerobics and weight-lifting. She is
in the same aerobics class as Chelsea-sensei, so the two will
often talk about things outside of school.
At home, she likes to play games with her family in order to be
close to them. She likes to listen to rock music, and will often
borrow old CDs from Mika's parents' collection in order to learn
more about how the genre started.

Takara Akira - Exquisite Soldier Wild Orchid

Personality and History:
Takara Akira has led a rather unsettled life the past few
years. He has been moved around all over Japan by his divorced
father, and now they were settling in HyperTokyo for a while, in
arcology tower three. He was hoping that they'd be able to stay
at least long enough to complete his senior year at Mizuhara high
school, near where they had moved in and set up his father's
flower shop.
Upon transfer, Akira found himself the center of attention
of most of the girls on campus. While flattered that he was
popular (most likely due to his good looks and senior status), he
was also uncomfortable with it, especially when the attention
came from one of the myanaran girls, named Ferris.
Not only did he have his schoolwork to keep him busy, but
Akira also worked part-time for his father. Within the first
week of school, he received his first visitors from school in the
form of Ferris and three of her friends. Two of whom he knew
from class...Mika and Natsumi, while the third friend, Akiko,
looked to be college-age rather than a high school student.
Mika, for her part, was carrying around the penguin-shaped
robopet like she always seemed to do. As the three high school-
ers pestered him on the job, Akiko just gave him funny, but
knowing looks.
All the attention from the girls got to be too much and
Akira had to tell them the truth. He just wasn't interested in
them aside from being friends because he was gay. While Akiko
had no reaction to this bit of info, Mika was disappointed while
Natsumi was quite confused (until Akiko slowly explained things
to her).
Ferris, on the other hand, was quite livid. Being a myana-
ran, she couldn't fathom why some humans would get themselves
involved in homosexual relationships. Realizing that her atten-
tions were wasted on Akira, she went into a rage and tried to
attack him. Akira was lucky that the other three girls were on
hand to hold the catgirl back from harming him.
As they finally got Ferris at least relatively calm, an
exotic plant that Akira's father had brought in the other night
started growing to huge proportions. Revealing itself to be a
youma, it proceeded to attack the group. While Akira ducked
behind the counter, the four girls transformed into the Exquisite
Soldiers and began to counterattack the monsterous plant.
Akira, peeking out above the counter, couldn't believe that
those girls were actually the Exquisite Soldiers that he kept
hearing about on the news the past few months. He also saw that
the battle was not going good for them and decided to help in his
own way. Seeing a jug of weedkiller on a still-intact shelf. he
grabbed it, nearly ripped off the cap, and splashed the contents
on the youma. Screaming in agony and outrage at the impudent
mortal attacking it, the youma shot a branch out at Akira and
knocked him into a storeroom.
Coming to a minute later, Akira saw Mika's robopet approach-
ing him. He was surprised that the mechanical pet started to
speak to him like a normal person would, introducing herself as
Penko. As Akira stared at Penko, wondering if he got landed on
his head really hard, Penko went on to explain that she was a
liason with the Magical Girl Corps and that he was picked on the
spot to be a test case for the affirmative action program that
the MGC. Recently, the MGC was sued by the Internation Associa-
tion for the Advancement of Pretty Boys (IAAPB) to allow males on
the magical girl teams.
Since Akira showed some bravery in attacking the youma, he
was selected instantly by the MGC computer systems to serve with
the Exquisite Soldiers. Penko then produced a silver chain with
a lavender gem set into it and gave it to him as well as the
magical phrase to activate his transformation.
Deciding that he had nothing to lose, he did so and stepped
out of the storeroom, announcing himself to be Exquiste Soldier
Wild Orchid. While the girls looked on in shock (after all, this
was a *guy* that was now on their team), Akira launched the first
attack that came to mind...the Orchid Pollen Cloud. Unfortunate-
ly, while the cloud would have been able to slow down most
opponents, it only helped the plant youma. Akira watched in
horror as his own attack caused the youma to start blooming,
ready to spread more of itself around.
Realizing that the flowers were the youma's way of reproduc-
ing, Akira set off his second attack, the Leaf Blade Castration.
The youma laughed at first, since it didn't have any genitalia to
be cut off, until it found out too late that streams of sharp
leaf blades zoomed at the blooming flowers instead. The youma
was unable to defend itself as the leaves thoroughly trashed the
flowers, leaving it in agony and unable to reproduce. Seeing an
opening, Mika was able to generate her Magic Soul Blade and keep
it within eight meters this time. She then sliced horizontally
at the plant's base, cutting the branches off from the roots.
Within moments, the monster became mulch.
It was at that moment that Akira's father came back from
errands, having heard of the fight at his flower shop. Rushing
in, he saw no sign of his son, but did see the remains of the
monster plant, as well as the five superheroes that defeated it
(one looking vaguely familiar). Before he could reward them for
saving his flower shop and ask if they had seen his son, the
Exquisite Soldiers had hastily left in order to avoid an awkward
situation.
Akira slowly adjusted to being an Exquisite Solider over
time, as well as the girls adjusting to him for the most part.
While Mika, Akiko, and Natsumi warmed up to him (especially
Natsumi), Ferris still gave him problems from time to time. This
has varied from nagging and harrassment over various matters, to
misguided attempts to seduce him and turn him to what she refers
to as "the right way of doing things". Naturally, this does lead
to some additional friction in the team...
Special Abilities:
While he wears a different style of uniform than those of the
girls, Akira still gets the same benefits that they get, such as
the ID Protection field, the HUD linkup with MGC mainframes, and
other such pluses.
His attacks include the Orchid Pollen Cloud, designed to slow
down enemies by sending them into severe sneezing fits, and the
Leaf Blade Castration, which attacks the genitalia and other
sensitive areas of an enemy's anatomy.
Unique to him is the disguise power. Due to his androgynous
looks, he could use this power to pass himself off as a member of
either sex in whatever role he sees fit. Unlike the Magical
Girl/Boy powers, this one could be used in his civilian identity
as well as being an Exquisite Soldier.
