This is my first attempt at a fanfic so I could use all the criticizm I
could get. First of all, I'm not a very good speller, but I did go through
with a spellchecker, though it might have missed grammer mistakes other
than the ones I ment to put in. One of my bigest concers is any cultural
errors I might have made. Please inform me of anything that might make my
story more believeable. Wait. This is Ranma. More believeable as a Ranma
story then.

Episode 5: At the Movies. Alone, in the Dark with Kasumi.
[The next morning Toma goes downstairs for breakfast. Ranma and Genma are
busy training.]
Kasumi: Breakfast!
Genma: Smells good, Kasumi.
[Ranma takes this brief distraction and knocks Genma into the pond. One
more blow in a long line of revenge against his father. A giant panda gets
out of the pond and growls at Ranma. Toma stares in shock for a second
before remembering what Akane told him yesterday. He then sits down to eat
while Ranma and Genma join them. Genma doesn't bother to change back to
human. Toma keeps looking up at Genma every few minutes. He notices that
everyone seems to react normally around a huge panda. Is this normal?]
Tazuki: Hey, Toma. Do you know where Chris has gone?
Toma: He hasn't come home yet?
Tazuki: No. I'm starting to worry.
Toma: I wonder where he could be.
[Chris has no idea where they are now. The ground they are walking on
appears to be some form of red sand. No visible landmarks can be seen.]
Chris: Where are we?
Ryoga: I'm not sure. I've never been here before. But could you take your
hand off my shoulder.
[Chris looks at both of his hands.]
Chris: Um... Ryoga, I don't have my hand on your shoulder.
Ryoga: Why did you have to tell me that?
[Ryoga and Chris look to see what's on Ryoga's shoulder. There is a
fleshy, three-fingered hand. Attached to that hand is a short little being
with a big head and long neck.]
Thing: Home?
Ryoga: [Semi-hysterical] Oh. That's nice. That's just great.
Chris: What should we do?
Ryoga: Run?
Chris: Sounds good to me.
Chris and Ryoga: AAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[Chris and Ryoga run screaming. The thing is soon joined by other
things.]
Thing 1: I say, what a peculiar reaction.
Thing 2: Whatever did you say to them?
Thing 1: I just asked if they wanted to go home.
Thing 2: We really must work upon your opening conversations with other
beings.
[A few minutes later everyone is still eating.]
Soun: And what is the plan for today, children?
Akane: Well, school is still closed.
Ranma: But there's nothing to do.
Toma: I know. How about going to see a movie?
Ranma: No money.
Toma: My treat?
All: Sure!
[Toma is knocked over by the response. He recovers quickly.]
Toma: I just wish Chris was here.
Chris and Ryoga: AAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[Chris and Ryoga come running in and trample Toma, who couldn't get out of
the way fast enough.]
Toma: [In pain] I should never wish for anything again. [He recovers]
Chris!
Tazuki: Chris! Don't leave me alone again, boy.
Chris: Uncle? Toma? We're back.
Toma: Where have you been?
Chris: I don't know. So help me, I don't know.
Toma: Well, you're just in time. We were all about to go out to the
movies.
Chris: Wait! Toma, I can to warn you about Kuno is coming to interrupt
your date with Kasumi.
Toma: What? Hey, that was two days ago.
Chris: Sorry. We kind of got lost.
Toma: We?
Chris: Toma, meet Ryoga Hibiki.
Toma: [Somewhat unsure] Uh, hi there.
Ryoga: Hi there. Oh, Akane...
Ranma: Humph.
Ryoga: Akane, I... I... I brought you this gift!
[Ryoga fishes into his bag and pulls out a Tickle Me Elmo (R) doll.]
Akane: What's this?
Ryoga: It's real big in America for this coming Christmas.
Ranma: Christmas?
Toma: But it's only Spring.
Ryoga: Spring? But I just bought that three days ago and it was near
Christmas then.
All: Huh?
Ryoga: Uh... Nevermind.
Toma: Whatever. I guess if you're a friend of Chris and seem to know
Akane then I guess you can come along too.
Chris: I wouldn't exactly call him a friend.
Ryoga: What movie?
Toma: Um. We're not sure yet. I just thought we'd see.
Ryoga: Uh... (Hmm. I side of a dark theater with Akane...) Lets go!
Toma: [Taken back] Uh... OK.
[Everyone gathers their things and leave for the movie theater. Toma
begins totaling things up in his mind.]
Toma: (Lets see: Me, Kasumi, Chris, Tazuki, Akane, Ranma, Nabiki, Ryoga,
Soun, and Genma. Ten people. Good thing my family is rich otherwise these
people could make me broke.)
[Toma makes his way to Chris.]
Toma: So, where were you these bast couple of days?
Chris: Like I said, I went to warn you and got lost. I met Ryoga along the
way. He was looking for the Tendo home and I asked him directions for the
Neko Hanten. I followed him and we too a wrong direction.
Toma: For two days?
Chris: Trust me when I say that boy has no sense of direction.
Toma: It can't be that bad.
Chris: Lets see. We only walked to America.
Toma: Isn't there an ocean in between here and America?
Chris: Bingo.
Toma: Yikes. Oh, by the way, I set up a date for you with Kodachi for
tonight.
Chris: You what? A date? But I just wanted to talk to her again.
Toma: What better way to talk to her than to be alone with her all
evening.
Chris: Yeah, well, I'm not sure it's such I good idea. I've only met her
the one time.
Toma: Well, it's to late now. Besides, we're at the theater so we'll have
to talk about this later.
[Everyone arrives at the theater.]
Toma: Here we are. Thirty screens of pure delight. Now, what's playing.
[They glance over the titles. Screen 1: Love in January. Screen 2: Love
in February. Screen 3: Love in March.]
Toma: Hmm. I sense a pattern.
[Screen 12: Love in December. Screen 13: Jackie Chan: Supercop. Screens
14-30: Godzilla vs Gamera vs Baragon vs Jet Jaguar vs Mothra vs the Power
Rangers. Chris reads the last title and Urks.]
Toma: What's wrong.
Chris: Sorry. It's just we have the Power Rangers in America now.
Ranma: I remember that show. I hated it. The moves were so fake.
Chris: Believe me, it's worse in America.
Ranma: How could it be worse?
Chris: Well, for one thing, the voices don't always match the mouths of the
actors.
Ranma: So? That's common when dubbing stuff between languages.
Chris: I'm talking about the American parts.
Ranma: Oh. Well, then you should be glad to hear that all the monsters
team up and kick the power Rangers' butts at the end.
Soun: Well, thanks for spoiling the ending.
Tazuki: Yeah. That sounded like good film.
Genma: My own son, ruining the ending of what sounded to be a terrific
film.
[Sweat appears on Ranma and Chris. Toma is too busy trying to decide what
to see to notice the conversation.]
Toma: Well, what does everyone want to see?
Soun: Well, some of us did want to see Godzilla vs Gamera vs--
Toma: Please. We don't have that much time before they start.
Soun: Supercop, then. [To Genma] Maybe we can learn some moves to use
against the Master.
Genma: Same here.
Tazuki: And me.
Ranma: Might as well.
Chris: I'll go too.
Akane: I want to see Love in February. That's the only one I haven't seen
yet.
Nabiki: That sounds good.
Kasumi: I'll join you.
[The only ones left to decide are Toma and Ryoga. All the men are going to
see Supercop while the women are seeing Love in February. The two are
torn. Love or action? Love or action? Love wins by two knock outs. Toma
walks up to the ticket counter.]
Toma: Um, five for Love in February and five for Supercop.
Cashier: That'll be 8,500 Yen, please.
Toma: Here you go. Oh, Ryoga.
Ryoga: What?
Toma: Could you drag me inside? I'm about to pass out.
[Seconds later the shock of spending so much money hits Toma. Ryoga
carries him inside where he soon recovers. Nabiki runs up to Toma.]
Nabiki: Toma, sweetie?
Toma: Alright. What do you want?
Nabiki: You're so understanding. I'd like a large popcorn with extra
butter, a hot dog with the work, some nachos, a box of Juju Fruits, and a
salted pretzel.
Toma: [Sarcastically] Anything else?
Nabiki: You're right. A large Diet Coke, too.
Toma: Wouldn't want to loose that girlish figure, now would we?
Nabiki: You got it.
[Everyone sees Toma taking Nabiki's order and rushes over to order
something too. Toma is swamped and soon everyone begins to leave for their
movies. Chris stays behind to help. They go up to the counter and order.
Soon the counter is overflowing with food. The cashier there looks at
Chris.]
Cashier: Sure this will be enough for your large friend there?
Toma: Hey. He's not that big. He's just a little over weight.
Cashier: A little as compared to a mountain?
Toma: Lay off.
Cashier: Yeah. Make sure he doesn't lay on you or you'll be off to the
afterlife.
Toma: I warned you! Patto--
Chris: Toma! It's OK. I've heard it all before.
Toma: But, Chris. He deserves it.
Chris: It's not worth our time. Lets go.
[Toma sighs and picks up most of the food and begins to walk to Supercop.
Chris grabs the rest and follows. Shortly after they enter the theater,
Chris doubles back and pokes his head out the door.]
Chris: [Quietly] Baburu Wana.
[The Cashier is suddenly encased inside a bubble and begins to float to the
top of the five story ceiling. Chris snickers and whistles quietly to
himself and reenters the theater.]
[The lights are still on as everyone finds their seats. All the men are
sitting in the middle of the theater. Toma gives all of the food for the
men to Chris and leaves for his own movies. Chris begins traveling down
the row and passing out orders. When he reaches the end and sits down he
realizes that he's passed out his order. He looks back down the row but
can't see anything because the lights just dimmed. The previews begin
showing.]
Narrator: In a world--
[Back in Toma's theater, he gets there just as the lights dim. He catches
a glimpse of Kasumi before it's to dark to see and makes his way to her.
He goes down the row and passes out the food before sitting down next to
her.]
Toma: Phew. Just made it.
[He reaches over and holds Kasumi's hand.]
Woman: AAAAAA!!!!!! Pervert!
[Toma realizes the screaming is coming for the woman who's hand he is
holding. And it is definitely not Kasumi.]
Toma: [Quickly] Sorry. Sorry. Pardon me.
[He begins going back through the row, picking up food as he goes along.
His eyes have adjusted to the darkness now and he sees the real Kasumi. He
makes his way to her and passes out the food to the real people this time.]
Toma: Sorry about that.
Kasumi: What was all that screaming about?
Toma: Uh, who knows. Some crazy woman. Probably thinks somebody grabbed
her hand or something.
Kasumi: Well, I hope she doesn't keep it up. It might ruin the movie.
[The same trailer in the other theater is running.]
Narrator: --but now there is hope. Five warriors band together to defeat
the evil.
[Back in the other theater.]
Narrator: This summer, they fight near you, to defend love. They are--
Chris: Oh, no.
Narrator: Sailor Moon and the Sailor Scouts!
Chris: This is going to hit a lot of people back home real hard.
Narrator: Sailor Moon: The Motion Picture.
Sailor Moon: [In English] Be there.
[Chris sinks in his chair, knowing the dread and torture that movie will
bring.]
Akane: Oo. I can't wait.
Toma: [Stunned] Uh... Yeah...
[Ryoga comes barging into the theater.]
Ryoga: [Yelling] Akane!
Audience: SSSHHH!!!
Ryoga: [Quietly] Sorry. Akane?
Toma: Ryoga. Down here.
[Ryoga makes his way to Toma.]
Ryoga: Where's Akane?
[Toma points to the end of the group where Akane is sitting. Nabiki sits
to her right while some other woman is to her left. Kasumi is to Nabiki's
right followed by Toma and an empty chair next to the isle.]
Ryoga: But how am I supposed to sit next to her if the seats are filled?
Toma: That's what happens when you're late. What? Did you get lost or
something?
Ryoga: Something like that.
Toma: Anyway. I saved you a seat.
Ryoga: Uh, thanks.
[Ryoga and Toma get a few dirty looks from other crowd members. Toma looks
around and notices that most of the crowd is women. There are a few
unhappy looking men with girlfriends attached to them.]
Toma: (So, this is what love does to men? Maybe I really do love Kasumi.)
[They sit through a few more minutes of the movie.]
Toma: (Maybe not. Either way, this is a hard test that am certain to
fail.)
[Toma stands up.]
Toma: I'll be right back. I need to use the facilities.
Kasumi: Hurry back. I think Kozue is going to reveal her love to Haruo.
Toma: [Quickly in a whisper to Ryoga] Come on, you fool. Lets get out of
here.
Ryoga: Uh? Oh! I need to go too.
[They quickly leave the room and enter the lobby.]
Ryoga: Cleaver thinking.
Toma: Yeah. Course, you realize that we will have to go back there in a
few minutes, or they'll get suspicious. Lets make the most of that time.
I think the rest of the guys are over here.
[They enter the theater Supercop is playing in. After a few moments they
find the rest of the guys. Luckily there are two empty seat next to Chris.
They make their way down the row.]
Toma: Hi, Chris.
Chris: Toma? What are you two doing here?
Toma: We, uh, are taking a break from the other movie.
Chris: Well, good thing you're here. I lost my food.
Toma: Lost?
Chris: Someone else has it, OK? Could you lend me some money to get some
more?
Toma: Don't worry. I'll get it myself.
[Toma goes back to the lobby and buys some more food for Chris. He makes
his way back down the row.]
Toma: Is this what you--Woah!
[Toma accidently trips over Tazuki and the food goes flying. Toma falls
face first onto the floor and is immediately stuck from all the goo down
there.]
Ryu: Tazuki! We meet again!
Audience: SSSHHH!!!
[Toma peels himself off the floor and sees that Chris has turned into
Ryunosuke, who is currently holding Tazuki in the air by his collar.]
Ryu: Ah, the blue-haired one. Yours was a narrow escape last time. I
shall make sure that will not happen again, after I dispose of this one.
[Ryunosuke draws his blade while still holding Tazuki in his left hand.]
Ryu: Now you die, Tazuki!
Audience: SSSHHH!!!
[Ryunosuke swings, but his blade stops in mid-air. He looks over confused
and sees that Toma has caught the blade.]
Toma: I'm afraid I can't allow you to do that.
Ryu: Once again, you prove your disloyalty to the empire. If you are so
eager to die, then I will grant your request. Faia Ken!
Audience: SSSHHH!!!
[Ryunosuke's blade turns into pure flame. Toma immediately pulls back his
burned hand. Ryunosuke drops Tazuki and swings at Toma. Toma jumps and
the blade misses. It imbeds itself in the seat in front. The current
occupant of that seat scrambles out of the way as the blade cuts is seat in
two and catches the two halves on fire. Toma leaps over the audience to
the front of the theater where there is more room. Ryunosuke follows,
along with the rest of the row.]
Soun: We must do something to help the boy.
Genma: But what? Somewhere inside that man is Chris.
Tazuki: We have to find some way of subduing Ryunosuke without injuring
him. Where's Chris when we need him? We sure could use his Baburu Wana
about now.
Ranma: [Sarcastically] Yeah. Where is Chris? Shouldn't you be able to do
that move? You did train him, didn't you?
Tazuki: Uh, he kind of learned that one from his parents before they
died. I never got around to learning it.
Ranma: Wonderful.
Ryoga: Leave it to me!
[Ryoga begins to run toward the two, but Ranma trips him.]
Ranma: No. This is a man to man fight. Lets just hope Toma remembers
that's Chris in there. But, I do have a plan. Here's what we do...
[Everyone huddles around Ranma.]
Kasumi: I wonder what's taking Toma so long.
Nabiki: Maybe he snuck into another movie without us.
Kasumi: Do you really think he would do something like that?
Nabiki: Why don't you go find out, Akane.
[Akane is half listening and more interested in the movie at the moment.]
Akane: [Never taking her eyes from the screen] Huh? Sure, in a moment.
[Toma and Ryunosuke circle each other for a few moments.]
Toma: (Damn. I could easily defeat him, but if I do, I hurt Chris. I
don't want to do that with his date tonight.)
[Ryunosuke makes this first move and charges Toma with his sword pulled
back. He swings and Toma jumps over the blade. Ryunosuke swings a few
more times, the flames burning Toma's clothes and skin without even
touching him.]
Toma: (I have to get that sword away from him. I got it.)
[Toma jumps near an audience member, who has stopped watching the movie for
the show in front of him. Toma grabs the man's drink and tosses it at
Ryunosuke.]
Ryu: A feeble attack. Have you run out of moves?
[As Tome predicted, Ryunosuke slashes open the paper cup. Soda splashes
everywhere. It doesn't affect Ryunosuke, but it does extinguish his
blade.]
Ryu: What the...?
[Toma grins.]
Toma: Patto Ken!
[Toma disappears and reappears behind Ryunosuke. Ryunosuke doubles over
from the blow. The audience cheers.]
Ranma: Now!
[Soun and Genma drop from the ceiling with a large sheet. The capture the
stunned Ryunosuke inside the sheet while Tazuki pours hot water over the
sheet. A moment later Chris' voice can be heard.]
Chris: What in the world?
[Soun and Genma release Chris. Toma helps him up.]
Chris: It happened again, didn't it?
Toma: Sorry about that. I must have hit you with your drink.
Chris: That's alright. I just hope I didn't hurt anyone. Ouch, speaking
of hurting.
[Chris grabs his stomach, which for some reason is now hurting.]
Toma: Sorry about that too. I had to do something to get him down.
Chris: Oh. It's OK. As long as you're still on my side, use as much force
as necessary.
Toma: I just didn't want to injure you too much before your date tonight
with Kodachi. That little punch should be healed before tonight.
Chris: [Kind of unenthusiastic] Oh yeah. My, uh, date.
Toma: Well, I hate to cut this short, but Ryoga and I need to get back to
the other theater before the girls start to worry.
[Toma grabs Ryoga and they run out of the theater. Ushers come running in
to put out the seats that had begun to catch fire. Toma and Ryoga enter
the other theater as the fire trucks arrive.]
Kasumi: What kept you?
Toma: We, uh, had a bit of a problem in the restroom.
Akane: Ssshhh. This is the best part.
[On the screen--]
Kozue: Haruo. I--I--
[Suddenly the movie stops and the manager's voice comes over the speakers.]
Manage: I am sorry to announce that due to a fire in one of the other
movies, we must evacuate the building.
[Several men in the crowd cheer and are immediately pummeled by their
girlfriends. Everyone gathers together outside in the street.]
Chris: Well, what now?
Toma: Hmm. It's only 3 O'clock. What else is there to do?
[Just then pieces of paper begin falling from the sky. All the martial
artists, except Akane, each grab one out of the air. Akane seems to be
having a lot of trouble catching one.
Ranma: This looks interesting.
Toma: What's this? A new restaurant?
Chris: The Catfish. Some sort of sushi bar?
Toma: Shall we go? Maybe get an early dinner, or at least a snack? Who's
with me?
[Chris, Ranma, Ryoga, and Akane agree. Everyone else heads home.]
Toma: Gee. Where's their sense of adventure. Alright, lets go.
