This is my first attempt at a fanfic so I could use all the criticizm I
could get. First of all, I'm not a very good speller, but I did go through
with a spellchecker, though it might have missed grammer mistakes other
than the ones I ment to put in. One of my bigest concers is any cultural
errors I might have made. Please inform me of anything that might make my
story more believeable. Wait. This is Ranma. More believeable as a Ranma
story then.

Episode 10: The Student from the States. Toma's Video Challenge.
[It was chaos at the Tendo home. Soun, Genma, Tazuki, Toma, Kasumi, Chris,
Akane, Ranma, And Nabiki are all in the living room. Soun was crying and
Genma was trying his best to comfort him. Kasumi had announced that she
was going to move in with Toma for a week.]
Toma: It's just an experiment, Mr. Tendo. We just want to see what will
happen if we live together for a while.
Kasumi: Father, don't cry. It will only be fore a week.
Soun: But... But... How will we eat?
Akane: [Angry] Dad!
[Genma places a hand on Soun's shoulder.]
Genma: It's just as well. Now we can use Kasumi's room for that exchange
student.
Toma: What exchange student?
Kasumi: Oh. That's right. That American boy is supposed to come today.
I had better make him something to eat when he gets here. It is a 14 hour
flight to here.
[Kasumi rushes off to the kitchen.]
Toma: You're housing an American exchange student?
Soun: [Chokes back some tears] Yes. The school is paying us to house and
feed him. The family coffers have been running low lately.
Toma: If you need money, you just need to ask. After all, you're my
engaged father-in-law. Or something like that.
Soun: I appreciate the offer, son, but the student is arriving within the
hour. Although, do you think you might be able to pay his taxi fair?
Toma: Sure. How much will that be?
Soun: Only 24,000 Yen.
[Toma looks in his wallet.]
Toma: Um... Let me run to the bank first. I'll be right back. Chris,
you stay here. And try and comfort Mr. Tendo.
Soun: I'm alright now. I'm fine with the fact... [Sniff] The fact...
[Bawls] That Kasumi's leaving me!
[Soun breaks down into a fountain of tears. Toma rolls his eyes and heads
off. Chris is unsure what exactly to do. He pats Soun on the back.]
Chris: Uh, there, there, Mr. Tendo. You still have Ak--Er... Nabiki to
cook for you.
Nabiki: Not unless you're willing to pay me.
Chris: Well, we can send Nora by every once and a while.
[Suddenly, there is a knock at the front door.]
Voice: Moshi moshi. (Telephone greeting)
All: What the...?
[Everyone gets up and goes to the door. There they find a young boy,
around the age of 15. He has shoulder length blond hair, blue eyes, and is
wearing a white Gi. A red bandana keeps the hair out of his face.]
Soun: Are you--
Boy: Williams. Ken Williams. Agent Double-or-nothing.
Soun: What?
Ken: Forget it. Just a bit of American humor. Bet you don't get a lot
of American's out here.
Soun: Actually--
Ken: Yeah. That's nice. This must be the family? Here. [Tosses his
duffle bag at Ranma] Take that to my room. You got anything to eat around
here?
[Ken wanders down the hall. Everyone is left staring. Then they all turn
to Chris.]
Akane: What did he say?
Ranma: Yeah. I can't translate English that fast.
[Chris quickly translates Ken's last sentence, which was in English.]
Ranma: Humph. Why of all the nerve.
[Ranma begins walking upstairs.]
Genma: Ranma. Where are you going?
Ranma: [Holds up the duffle bag] To take this bag to Kasumi's room.
Akane: Well, this exchange student had better start learning about Japanese
ways, or he might not be returning to America.
Soun: Now I don't think we have to resort to violence. He just has jet
lag.
Tazuki: Na. Lots of Americans are like him.
Chris: Trust me. Not all American's are like him. Just most the ones from
New York and the South and a few other areas.
Ken: [From the living room] Where's my food?
[They all go to the living room. There they find Kasumi has just served
Ken a snack. Ken is flipping though the channels on TV.]
Ken: Geez. Don't you people have a remote. You know, one of those
things that you can use to change channels without having to walk across
the room?
Akane: Come on. Just let me hit him once.
[Ranma comes in from behind.]
Ranma: I wonder if he wore that Gi all the way from America. What, did he
get on the plane directly after a tournament?
[Outside, Toma has returned from the bank and paid the forgotten taxi
driver. He finds everyone crowded in the hallway, gazing into the living
room.]
Toma: What's up? Where's the American?
Ranma: Shh! [Points.]
[Ken is flipping the snacks Kasumi made into his mouth. Kasumi finds and
hands him the remote for the TV.]
Ken: Thanks, babe.
Toma: Babe?!
[Toma begins to rush forward, but Ranma and Chris hold him back.]
Chris: Come on now. We don't need to beat him up on the first day.
[Ken turns around.]
Ken: Would you keep it down? I'm trying to watch TV.
[He turns back to the TV and resumes flipping through the channels.]
Ken: Don't you have anything better that this Japanese stuff?
Soun: Now he insults our country?
[Soun begins to advance but Akane pushes him back.]
Akane: Dad!
Toma: Alright. Let me go. I'm better now.
Ken: Hey, Toots. Got anything to drink?
[Kasumi heads for the kitchen to get Ken something to drink. She stops
when she sees Ranma and Chris holding back Toma.]
Kasumi: Oh. What are you all doing in the hall? Shouldn't you be with
our guest?
Soun: Ha-ha-ha. You're absolutely right, Kasumi. Let's go great our
guest.
[Kasumi continues down the kitchen. Everyone else slides into the room in
one big group. The spread out a bit and sit at the table.]
Soun: Ahem. So, Ken. You come from America?
Ken: [Never taking his eyes from the TV] Uh-hu.
Genma: Must be hot there this time of year.
Ken: Uh-hu.
Tazuki: So, what area are you from?
Ken: Uh-hu.
[Toma throws his hands up in disgust.]
Toma: This is pointless. He's obviously not listening to you. He's just
a stupid American with no respect for other cultures.
Ken: I heard what you all said. I just didn't care to respond. [Stands
up and faces Toma] And if you've got a problem with me, let's take it
outside.
Toma: Very well. But, might I suggest the dojo instead?
Ken: Alright. Let's go!
[Ken begins running for the front door. Toma is close behind. Toma takes
a sharp left toward the dojo, but Ken just continues toward the front
door.]
Toma: This way, idiot.
[Ken turns and follows Toma with a sour look on his face. Soon, everyone
is following. The run past Kasumi, who is just exiting the kitchen.]
Kasumi: Are we all showing Ken the dojo now?
[Inside the dojo, everyone has taken a seat along the side-lines. Toma and
Ken face each other.]
Toma: No holds barred. Last one conscious is the winner.
Ken: Good. Round one. Fight!
[Toma pauses for a second at Ken's words.]
Toma: Round one?
[Ken rushes forward and punches straight at Toma's face. Toma easily ducks
his head to the side.]
Toma: What do you mean, "round one?"
Ken: Just shut up and fight!
[Ken does a quick spin and kicks at Toma's head again. Toma blocks with
his forearm.]
Toma: Well, I really want to know what you mean by, "round one."
[Ken growls in anger and does a quick punch, punch, kick attack. Toma
dodges the punches and leaps over the kick.]
Ranma: Man, this Ken guy is a wimp. I was hopping he might be able to
present a challenge while training.
[Whack. Akane's elbow impacts on top of Ranma's head.]
Akane: What about me. Am I not challenging enough?
Chris: (Hmm... There's something familiar about the moves Ken is using. I
wonder if... Nah. Those can't be the moves from... Street Fighter?)
[Ken does a couple of back-flips until he's a safe distance from Toma.]
Ken: You're forced me to go all out.
[Ken brings his hands to his right side. It almost looks like he's holding
an invisible ball there.]
Toma: What the...?
Ken: Ha Do Ken!
[Suddenly energy collects between Ken's hands. With a push, Ken sends the
Fire Ball at Toma. Toma leaps in surprise.]
Toma: How did-?
Ken: Sho Ryu Ken!
[Ken leaps into the air with a Dragon Punch. It connects with Toma's chin
and he is sent back into the wall. Ken tightens his bandana a bit and
smiles at Toma. Toma is against the wall with his back to Ken. He is
upside down and resting on his shoulders and neck.]
Toma: So, that's the way you want to play, eh?
[Toma pushes himself off the ground with his hands and as soon as he lands
on his feet, he launches himself into the air.]
Toma: Then feel the Amata Kabe Ashige!
[Toma begins leaping off the walls, gaining speed and power. Everyone is
getting dizzy just watching Toma, especially Ken, who is in the center of
it all. Finally, when he has just become little more than a blur, Toma
leaps directly at Ken. Ken is unable to block in time and takes the full
force of the attack in the chest. He is sent flying through the wall of
the dojo and into the wall surrounding the grounds. Soun cries out in
horror. Toma lands on his feet with his back turned toward Ken again. He
turns his head so Ken is in the corner of his eye.]
Toma: Be careful who you challenge next time, kid.
[Toma heads back to the house. Chris follows behind, with Ranma. Soun is
crying now. Nabiki comforts him.]
Nabiki: It's OK, daddy. We can fix the hole.
Soun: If I had a Yen for every hole punched through those walls...
Nabiki: We'd still be broke. Come on.
[Chris and Ranma find Toma in the bathroom. His is holding a damp cloth to
his jaw.]
Toma: What kind of move was that?
Chris: The Sho Ryu Ken.
Toma: Rising Dragon Punch? Where did he learn that? And that Fire Ball?
Chris: From Ryu and Ken.
Toma: Who?
Chris: Don't you get out? Ryu and Ken. From the Street Fighter video
games. He must have copied the moves some how. I wonder how he learned to
focus his Ki.
Toma: Video games?
Chris: He must play them a lot to be able to actually perform the moves.
Ranma: I wonder if we...
Toma: We might. Care to take a trip to the arcades, anyone?
[Toma called a taxi and soon he, Ranma, and Chris were headed to the
nearest arcade. Ken was left to the care of everyone else, not having
woken up yet. Once they arrive, they are almost overwhelmed by the noise
from all the games. Toma walks up to the cashier and slams down a 10,000
Yen bill.]
Toma: Tokens, please.
[The cashier looks at the bill and back at Toma.]
Cashier: Are you sure you want to spend this much?
Toma: Yes.
Cashier: A-alright then.
[The cashier fills a large bucket with token and hands them over to Toma.
Toma turns back to the machine with bucket in hand.]
Toma: Now then, where shall we begin our training?
[Several hours later, all three are exhausted. Almost every little kid in
the place has beat them on every game. Chris has not been playing, but is
still tired from following Toma and Ranma everywhere in the room. They are
almost out of tokens. Ranma is taking a break by the machine Toma is at.
They have stopped at Street Fighter Three. Toma is playing as Ibuki and is
currently being beaten up by a ten year old kid playing Sean. Toma is down
to less than 1/3 power on the third round. His opponent still has half
power. Chris is kind of amazed because Toma rarely won even one round
against anyone. He got lucky in the first round as the kid slipped up a
lot. Now Toma is dancing around the screen just trying to avoid being hurt
and building up his power meter. Sean jumps in and slams Toma against the
ground, taking off half his remaining power. Toma leaps back up and gets a
good upper kick against Sean. Now his power bar is full and he quickly
uses it in a super ball attack. Sean is grabbed by Toma and thrown across
the screen. Suddenly the words, "Ibuki wins," comes across the screen.
Toma is frozen in shock and he begins to wander from the consol. Another
kid jumps in and takes over Toma's game. Ranma notices the dumbfounded
Toma and equally shocked Chris.]
Ranma: What's up? Did you spend all the money?
Chris: No. It's just that Toma...
Toma: Won. I won! I actually won a game. [The surprise wares off] You
know, these games aren't that hard.
[Chris knocks Toma in the back of the head.]
Toma: Hey!
Chris: Come one, winner. Let's get back. It's getting close to ten.
Toma: Yeah. I've got to get back and practice some of these moves.
[Chris sighs and leads the two outside.]
[A couple of hours later, Toma, Chris, Tazuki, and Kasumi return home and
go to bed. Toma begins to dream about everything that happened today.
Toma is fighting Vega and produces a Fire Ball and defeats him.]
Toma: I did it! I beat the game. I am the greatest Street Fighter alive.
Voice: You are nothing.
Toma: What? Who's there?
Voice: You know who I am, Toma.
Toma: Show yourself!
[A figure moves in the shadows. Toma is unable to clearly see any
features.]
Voice: You truly are weak to think beating one kid at a video game makes
you the best.
Toma: I never thought that. I just wanted to learn some new techniques.
I was just surprised by my win.
Voice: Exactly. You were surprised by something you should always achieve.
Victory!
Toma: Hey, that game is a lot harder that it looks.
Voice: There is no need to. I would have won every time. There is no room
for error in a true champion. You even got suckered into that punch from
that American today.
Toma: That was a very unexpected move. Why don't you fight him if you're
so tough.
Voice: I already have, and won. I don't know why I let weaklings like you
live.
Toma: Alright, that enough! [Draws into a fighting stance] Just who are
you?!
Voice: I am the destroyer of worlds. A collector of souls. I am power
incarnate. Evil made flesh. And holder of the cutest thimble collection
in this dimension.
[Toma face faults. He quickly recovers and resumes his stance.]
Toma: What is your name?!
Voice: You'll find out soon enough.
[The figure turns and begins to walk away. Toma runs after.]
Toma: Wait. Who are you?!
[Toma catches up and grabs the person by the shoulder. He spins the figure
around. Toma freezes at the familiar face.]
[Toma sits straight up in bed. Kasumi wakes up in the bed next to his.]
Kasumi: Is something wrong?
Toma: I... I just had a bad dream. That's all.
Kasumi: What was it about?
Toma: I don't know. Something evil is coming. I saw a figure in
darkness. His face was... It was... [Toma grabs his head in frustration]
Argh! I can't remember!
Kasumi: Well, maybe if you go back to sleep, it will come back to you in
the morning.
Toma: I'm almost afraid to remember.
Kasumi: That may be for the best.
[Kasumi lays down and goes back to sleep. Toma just sits for a while in
the darkness.]
Toma: (I knew the person in my dream. I'm sure of it. If only I could
remember who's face it was.)
[After a while of brainstorming, Toma finally gives up and decides to think
about it later. Just as he's about to fall asleep again, Toma could almost
swear he heard laughter.]
