Subject: [FFML][BGC] I'd call this a teaser, but...

As the subject line says, this is just a short bit from the beginning of
the 'fic that is slowly being written on my computer. (I know, I know,
using the passive there makes it sound like someone other than myself is
doing the writing... It's late) I'm not really sure when I'll be done with
a significant portion of it, but I'm assuming it'll happen eventually
(hopefully before the end of summer. With any luck, the ideas will still be
original by then... :)

Anyway, on with what I have... (and I hope the lines aren't too long for
you...)

    "Sir?"
The scientist looked up from the monitor where he was performing his
calculations. "Yes?" he asked.
"The boomer has spotted an AD Police force."
"Put the view up on the monitor."
    "Yes, sir!"

The row of AD Police grunts brought their guns up quickly as the boomer
approached. The sergeant gave the order to open fire, and twenty
semiautomatic weapons started spitting shell casings behind the skirmish
line. The bullets which were ejected from the other end of the guns
traveled only a short distance before rebounding off of the boomer, a
Bu-12B. With a roar, the boomer opened up with its own machine gun, taking
out four of the hapless cops within seconds.
The sergeant picked up the microphone in his squad car. "This is squad
four. We have engaged the boomer and could use a little assistance here."
"Roger that. Troopers coming your way." So saying, the helicopter
pilot pushed the launch button on the console in front of him, and two bulky
figures dropped out of the chopper.
When they landed, the boomer had just finished the last of the grunts
who hadn't bolted. Spotting the troopers, the boomer evaluated them quickly.

"That one looks like a K-11, sir. The other doesn't match any data we
have on record, but could be a modified K-12."
"What?" The scientist's attention returned to the monitor.
"We have no data on that larger trooper. It could be a modified K-12,
but it's very hard to tell from the readings."
"I see. Notify the project leader to specially request this
recording--this is going to be interesting."

Deciding that the larger trooper didn't look like a threat more severe
than that posed by the K-11, the Bu-12B aimed its bazooka and fired.
The larger trooper made a jet-assisted dodge and took aim. A blazing
line of bullets exploded from the gun, shredding the boomer's machine gun
arm. The boomer roared in anger and closed the range between itself and the
trooper. The trooper stood firm, waiting for the attack.
The boomer fired once more at close range with its bazooka, attempting
to catch the pilot of the trooper off guard, but had its shot dodged once
more. Launching a backhand at the trooper the boomer tried to pull away
slightly. The trooper's pilot, however, had other ideas. Grabbing the
boomer's arm with his own left, he pulled hard. With a loud screeching of
metal, the boomer's arm separated from its body. As the boomer reeled
backwards, the trooper used its jets once more to knock the boomer flat with
a left jab.
The boomer, escape routines now nearly the only processes running in its
head, tried one last trick. Firing its jets, it propelled itself off of the
building directly behind it. The trooper, still following up its punch, was
caught off balance and knocked over backwards by the boomer's headfirst charge.
The boomer rocketed away from the trooper, straight towards the waiting
gun muzzle of the K-11.

"Wow." The scientist looked stunned. His aide turned to him. "Upper
management isn't going to like this. . . ."
